Coach Saban when asked about the Bama job had to say no because in his heart he wasn't going to Bama, also the season was still going on for the Fins/Bama. Lets wait and see until the season is done. :popcorn:

Meyer has stated Notre Dame is his dream job, so if that's true I'm sure he is more interested than what he said today. Although he has a perfect situation down in Florida, he may take the job as a challenge to rebuild the team and turn them into BCS contenders ala Utah and Florida. IMO he is more than likely to leave "if" Florida wins a NC, then if they didn't. I know thats backwards to most coaches, but hes already got a couple, and if he can seal the deal on this one then he has done the state of Florida good. I'm sure they would be heartbroken if they lost him, but like said he has done enough to keep from resentment. This is also Tebow's last year, so since Meyer will no longer be coaching one of the greatest college football players ever, this could be a key issue in deciding whether to stay or go,

 

 

 

In a way I would like to see him go to ND, (just because Notre Dame is supposed to be Notre Dame) and get things turned around. College football would be much more like college football if the Irish were in the top 10. Weis wasn't a slouch or anything, he recruited pretty solid talent, Meyer can recruit more than that. Urban also builds teams pretty quick, so in a couple years he would have the Fighting Irish all lined out.

 

BUT on the otherhand, he has built a dynasty at Florida. A dynasty that will more than likely be in the title game this year, and with the talent they have, be one of the favorites for future NC games. Football is king at Florida, and he has been dominating hands down the best conference in football. He loves Florida, and they way he has built this team would make it extremely tough to leave even if something did happen to Weis. He would be taking a less talented team for a year or two, but he could control his schedule, not play in a league, and he would be at NOTRE DAME.

 

A lot to shake out, I think it is 80/20 he stays at Florida.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Urban leave Gainsville. Watching Gator Nation hyperventilate would be fun. However, I don't see Meyer leaving. He likes the weather. He and his wife like the schools. He's treated like a god here, and the power brokers of the Florida alumni will match any offer Notre Dame puts on the table.

The thing about the UF dynasty is that it is the SEC. It's only going to get tougher and tougher to come out of there and win a title in this day and age. Look at what Saban is doing, and he doesn't even have a team full of his players yet. You see rumors of heat on Richt and Miles. Richt is the winningest coach in the SEC the last decade, and Les Miles is a season and a half away removed from winning a title.

 

There is no where to go but down for UF, IMO. Almost everyone in the SEC is getting better. UF most likely will never be better than they were in 2008. Urban is a brand name, his stock will never be any higher. Urban Meyer and Notre Dame would be a monster in the making. UF can be a dynasty, but not a monster IMO too much competition. Not that there isn't at Notre Dame, but to me if ND was at the top of the football world, everyone else would be a distant second. Sure South Bend is a dump, but I got chills on that campus (and I'm not even Catholic!:lol:).

 

IMO he won't leave, but if he ever thinks that he would want to he had better do it. I think the next hire is going to be a good, good coach and they aren't going to be out of ND anytime in the near future. UF can give Urban alot of things but it isn't Notre Dame, Michigan or Ohio State for him, IMO. Say one of us were a life long UK fan, and ended up coaching basketball. Winning championships at Texas A&M sure would be great, but it wouldn't compare to being the coach at UK and winning titles. Urban has a great thing going at UF, but if ND is truly his dream job I hope he takes it. I think if we have the opportunity to achieve our dreams we have to do it even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else.

I still think there is a better chance that Urban ends up at Notre Dame than Brian Kelly.

However, I think there needs to be serious consideration to whether or not you can win big their with the academic restrictions.

I think that you can't argue that and here's why. Brian Kelly is winning big now at UC, in terms of overall talent ND's is probably better and in the worst case scenario it's at least similar. A guy like Meyer or Kelly will still get good players, IMO. They may not be able to get everyone they'd like, but I'm sure plenty of athletes can meet those criteria considering ND recruits nationally. I know it's a weird argument, but it's JMO. :thumb:
