November 23, 200916 yr I know it is very, very early for these kinds of things, the season isn't even over, but I was talking about it with some friends and I wanted to get the BGP Nation's thoughts on the matter. Here's some: Alabama-The team is young, and Saban is cleaning house with recruiting. Notre Dame-Charlie Weis' future is uncertain, but if Jimmy Claussen, Golden Tate and Michael Floyd come back, along with Kyle Rudolph, they will be very dangerous. Oregon-Masoli, Jeff Maehl, Jamere Holland, and LaMichael James will all be back on an offense that is arguably the best in the country. USC-Everyone will be back, and better, and well, it's USC. Ohio State-Pretty much the same as USC, Pryor has gotten a lot better this season, and Devier Posey is one of the best receivers in the country that no one talks about. Virginia Tech-Tyrod Taylor, Darren Evans, and Ryan Williams will all be back, along with a Bud Foster defense, they will be a Top 10 next year. Miami-Virtually every starter will be back, the offense will be darn near unstoppable, Randy Shannon is becoming a better coach each game and it may all come together next year. Again, a lot of this isn't taking into account early entry into the draft, recruiting, or coaching changes.

Floyd for ND is only a true Soph, so he will return. Worst part for the Irish is they lose the majority of their starting OL.

That being said, I'd say Tate and Clausen are gone this year anyway. Obviously you haven't watched a ND game this year if you consider Clausen, Tate, and Floyd "decent". As for ND being a championship team I think it isn't completely out of the question. There will not be any team that is like Florida or Texas this year. A lot more open. The best team in the country will be Bama' and they have to play in the SEC. If, and it's a big if, ND can beat USC then I don't see why they wouldn't be a BCS Championship team with their schedule. PhiSlamaJama, not even a top 25 team? They were preseason 23 this year how would they not be next year?

A lot of bone head plays this year. Looking at next years schedule I think it's very possible for the Irish (with Clausen and Tate back) to be 11-0 going into the USC game. If Floyd hadn't gotten hurt, he'd be a finalist for the Biletnikoff along with Golden Tate.
November 24, 200916 yr Tate and Floyd decent....:laugh: IMO. Who is that much better? I don't know if there are two WR playing I'd take over them in all of college football. JMO though. Oregon is my preseason #1. They return 19 starters, including their entire offensive line, back 7 on defense, Masoli and LaMichael James. They are going to be straight-loaded. I like Alabama, they are going to have a time replacing their front 3, 3 LB (most likely McClain leaves). The defense will be good though, IMO. C'mon it's Nick Saban. McElroy has to get better. I think OSU, VT, UF, and USC will all be good. I like my Canes, just about everyone besides LT Jason Fox is coming back that matters. If Dwyer comes back I think GT is a serious dark horse for the title, maybe a top 5 team. They do not lose much at all.
November 24, 200916 yr I will argue that ND has the PASSING offense to contend next year but the real problem on offense is runnng the ball. Hughes and Allen aren't explosive or dangerous, if they want a homerun threat in the backfield they should put Riddick in. Besides the falty running game they have a dismal defense. The only way they can compete next year isif theyimprove on D. This is why Gary Patterson is an ideal choice for ND.
