That a past player Michael Fuller was provided a scholarship to go to Rose Hill about 5 years ago. The article is in todays Ashland paper the online link is

This seems like a tricky situation with the family of a player who died wanting the boy to have a scholarship. But the tape is a red flag assuming there was something said in the tape that was inproper. I believe this will end up going to an actual court before its all said and done. Also, why would they say if we are going to recruit, we would recruit someone who could play. That doesn't seem like an appropriate statement.

Your exactly right LMB. That comment is not just inappropriate it is down right mean-spirited and just plain wrong. IMO the principal should make a public apology in the newspaper and in person to the Fuller player for making that statement.

 

While M. Fuller may not have been O.J. Mayo, he was a decent basketball player from what I can remember.

Yeah I don't want to pile on Rose Hill. It seems they have had a tough time recently basketball-wise. It is kind of bad situation with their description of the scholarship deal if the boy's family wanted this done. It seems like a good gesture. But that comment just isn't needed.

I just meant getting the players to begin with was bad judgement on the coach's part.

I don't know the coach's name, but wasn't it discussed on here the a man would coach both the boy's and girl's Varsity team?

We pride ourselves as posters on BGP to not take cheap shots against kids. If we believe in that we should let the RH administration know that such a quote is unacceptable.

It seems to me that we are ASSUMING that Dr. Foster ACTUALLY made the exact statement that we all read in the paper. MAYBE......just MAYBE .....for the first time EVER apparently ...... the paper MIGHT have mistakenly shortened a comment or even left a word or two out for how much room was allotted for the story and he MIGHT have been misquoted.
