Did anyone lose because of this?

According to the game story I just read there was about a minute and half left when he took the knee, and the Jets had no timeouts left. It worked out very well for the Jags, but I still say you have to take the sure points, and not take any chances on a bad snap, catch, or block on the FG.

Agreed. Who wouldn't want to score a touchdown anyways?:idunno:

Braylon Edwards and Jericho Cotchery both have the ability to make a big plays in that situation.

They had all game to make big plays. How many had they made the previous 58 1/2 minutes?

I think this also shows how every team in the NFL takes extra points (and chip shots) for granted, except for the Bengals' fans who have had to endure Brad St. Louis...

They each had some big catches, and so did Keller. 41 (BE), 32 (JC), and 23 (DK) yards were their respective long catches. And Cotchery caught a TD. I am not saying what MJD did was smart, but it worked out and the Jets do have some big play guys if given the chance.

It worked out, but there's no way I'd want any player on my team to kneel down and leave the fate of the game in the hands of the snapper and holder and foot of the kicker...

A TD at that point would have forced the Jets to get into the end zone...with no TO's left, I think I'd have enough confidence in my defense to hold them out.

JMO

MJD is a beast. I guess when you find paydirt as often as he does, its not big deal to leave one on the table.

It worked out obviously but I think it was a stupid move.

If was the same situation in a Bengals game and you were Marvin Lewis, would you tell Cedric Benson to stop at the one yard line?

Much like Belichek's decision vs. the Colts, there's a fine line between showing confidence in your offense (special teams in this case), and a lack of confidence in your defense.

I sure hope it doesn't cost me a win... :irked:

You were actually who I thought of first when I heard it yesterday. I actually have the opposite hope and it does affect you.:p

Ok, I really don't. I wouldn't mind the last game of the season deciding our division.

My slug can take your slug:p

Message to those who are so wrapped up in fantasy sports that they hardly know which end is up. Real life comes first.

BINGO!!!

I think it was a very unselfish move. Personally, I think he should have gone ahead and scored, ... like Boucher said, no guarantees on a FG. But the odds are definitely in your favor of making a FG and running out the clock. It it didn't work, he would be a lunkhead, ... since it did, he is a smart unselfish player.

I think most know the difference. Heck, I lost in both my fantasy leagues this week. I could actually care less about the losses because in real life, my favorite team swept THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!!! :ylsuper::ylsuper:

I'd say the chances of missing a 20 yard FG are not even close to a team driving w/ 1:30 left. Coaches don't do this enough IMO. This was a great move.

It reminds me of when Brian Westbrook pulled the same move. I know this caused a lot of outrage in fantasy owners.

That cost me the championship in my league. I lost bye one point in the playoffs because of Westbrook doing that. So it cost me $250. :irked:
