Did anyone lose because of this?

Featured Replies

Who cares what we think. He did what he thought was the best for his team. I have him on one of my teams but it does not bother me if I lose because of it. We always get on athletes for thinking of themselves first. Here is one time he thought of his team and not his stats.

According to the game story I just read there was about a minute and half left when he took the knee, and the Jets had no timeouts left. It worked out very well for the Jags, but I still say you have to take the sure points, and not take any chances on a bad snap, catch, or block on the FG.

MJD went down with 1:47 on the clock I think it was.

The odds of Sanchez leading them down the field are probably around 25-30%.

The odds of missing an XP are around 2%.

This was a brilliant thing to do. If it wasn't, why were the Jets wanting him to score? As a player/coach/fan of the Jets, what would you have rather had?

If I was surprised by anything, it's that they didn't kill a little clock and then punch it in. They were moved back to the 1 thanks to an encroachment after the second kneel down. I think I would have tried it then. But hey, it worked out for them, so smart play. We'd be saying the same thing about Belichick if that whole go for it on 4th down thing had worked. But, he's an idiot today isn't he? Exactly how close Del Rio came to the same thing.

Except all the needed to do was make an XP. NFL teams convert that what 97-98% of the time?

This is the best stat that I could find and it says 98.5% of XP are made. I'll take my chances on something like that!

It only takes one time to be the moron that threw a game away on that gamble. I know the numbers, I know all the logic behind what you guys are saying. I'm simply saying that had it not worked, this would be considered one of the dumbest moves of all time. The same way Bill Belichick would be the master genius if they had converted a piddly little two yard gain. Instead, this morning he's a moron.

I disagree. They are completely different situations.

I disagree.

As is your right. For the record, I do not entirely disagree with you, I am merely pointing out that there is definite risk in giving up points for the hope of scoring another way. Even at 98.5%, there is that 1.5%.

Based on what? How many rookie QB's have led their teams to a game winning TD in 1:47, with no timeouts, over the years? Look at his numbers for the game. Not too impressive.

MJD, who owns himself in fantasy lost his game this past week because he took a knee.

^ In thinking about it, I believe the tiebreaker is awarded to total of points on the bench. I believe I had 4 guys with bye weeks, my opponents had 0 guy with bye weeks. So yes, I guess I will lose because of this. What a punk.

Not in my league. ESPN also, but I was in a tie and yes I had more bench points but I even asked to flip a quarter to break the tie, I hate ties.

1st or last.
