November 15, 200916 yr Here is what I say. Win no more games we get Independence Bowl. I say this because the Papa Johns and Liberty are on the same day as UL vs. UK and I'm sure UK would like to avoid that if possible. Maybe the Music City if we are lucky and other teams don't win. Win 1 more we get Music City Bowl and possibly Chick Fil a. Win 2 more and there will be no bowl because the earth will then blow up. JK. I see Chick Fil a or Outback. They would be tied for 2nd in the East. I would love to see the drought end vs. UT and then eat some Chick Fil a.
November 15, 200916 yr I am glad that the Cats have become "bowl eligible" again and hope U.K. gets another one. Having said that and I know I am in a minority by saying I think 6 wins in a 12 game schedule going to a bowl is ridiculous at best. Rewarding a team for going .500.....mediocrity is imo crazy. What are schools goals now? Hey guys, we can just be average and get rewarded at seasons end . I am not just saying it about U.K., that goes for anyone. Six wins/.500 season and going to a bowl is laughable to me. I hope that the Cats can get a couple more wins to make "bowl eligible" be more legit. One thing that may show is that there are too many bowl games but as long as the AD's, conferences and t.v. can drag in the $$$$ is all that matters. O.K., that was my yearly vent/soapbox rant about mediocrity getting rewarded. Carry on.
November 15, 200916 yr ^ I agree, but then again, UK getting these bowl bids and bowl wins undoubtedly helps in the recruiting wars, and the end result of this will be a better product on the field in the next few years... then perhaps UK can become a real contender in the SEC on a regular basis.
November 15, 200916 yr I hope UK wins at least one more. I don't think any school should go to a bowl with a record of .500. But they will go because of the SEC connections and the fan base. I think Liberty Bowl or Independance Bowl are the only options.
November 15, 200916 yr That would be a nightmare having the bowl game the same day as UK vs. UofL bball game...
November 15, 200916 yr Chick-Fil-a rarely takes a 7 win team from the SEC. Nashville or Shreveport are their likely destinations, unless the SEC has more teams qualify than there are bids. Then they may send UK to another bowl where a conference hasn't met their quota.
November 15, 200916 yr No. They are just eligible. There were a few 6-win teams from lower conferences in recent years not invited to a bowl game
November 15, 200916 yr One of the main things about a Bowl bid is the extra practice. To have a month or so to not only get ready for the bowl, but getting quality reps for the younger guys. This gets you ready for Spring ball and sets up the depth chart going in to it. There is nothing like that extra work over schools that do not get it. JMO.

November 15, 200916 yr UK will be hard pressed to get to the Peach Bowl without winning out, UT and Georgia will fit in with about the same record as UK for that bowl, both have fan bases that will travel like UK's and both are closer to Atlanta. UGA I would think would be the dream choice for the peach bowl. UK will wind up in Birhmingham or Shreveport if they don't get another win. 1 more win might get them music city or liberty, but music city would love UT as much as UK I'm sure and Liberty would prefer Arkansas if they could get them from what I've heard. Either way the SEC will probably have 10 bowl eligible teams and 10 bowl spots. But the SEC will have 4 or 5 teams with 7-5 record which makes it hard to place anyone anywhere.

November 15, 200916 yr First, I am glad that UK is going to another bowl game. However I do not think that they deserve a bowl game. Any team that has a losing conference record (like UK has had since the beginning of time) each year should not be bowl eligible. Beating two or three lower level teams should not allow you a bowl game.

Beating two or three lower level teams should not allow you a bowl game. Valid point, but if you had to have 51% winning percentage in your conference how many teams would qualify for a bowl? These teams would miss out as of now! The below teams knocked out would eliminate 11 bowl games and lost a TON of money! SEC: Auburn Arkansas Ole Miss South Carolina Georgia (Bubble to stay above 50%) TN Big 12: Iowa State Missouri Texas Tech Texas A&M Kansas State(Bubble to stay above 50%) Big East: USF Rutgers ACC: Florida State North Carolina Duke(1 win to be eligible) Big 10: Minnesota Northwestern (Bubble) Michigan State (Bubble) Pac 10: USC Cal UCLA
