Scored this morning

Featured Replies

This is my biggest buck. Came in following two does and gave me about an 8 yard shot. I was getting ready to shot one of the does when saw him.

:clap:Congrats on a great bow killed buck! The Lord has blessed you.

Nice deer, especially with a bow! Give some details, I love that stuff. How did you stop him? Well placed shot? How far did he go? See him go down? From the ground? Tree stand? Did you fall out after shooting that brute?:D

Heard something to my left, turned and there were two does about 15 yards in some thick brush. My bow was hanging on my right so I turned to get it and when I turned back around one of the does was at about 10 yards walking a path that ran right in front of my stand. I was waiting for the lead doe to get in front of me and I was going to take her. While waiting I looked back to find the second doe to make sure I could draw when I noticed another deer coming through the brush on the same path. As he raised his head I so bone and knew he was big enough to take. After that I tried not to look at his horns. He came out of the brush and stopped broadside at about 10 yards between 2 trees. I checked the does to make sure they weren't looking and drew on him. As soon as I got it back he started walking. He came around a tree and was know walking straight towards me. He looked up right at me for about 1/2 a second then dropped his head and took a few more steps, turned broad side at about 8 yards and stopped. Put it through his shoulder and it came out the through his chest (right where the white under coat meets the brown hair). He went about 60 yards and stumbled, thought he went down but managed to get up and go another 30 yards or so. I didn't see him go down but knew he wasn't going far. My 4 years old daughter could have followed the blood trail. Not sure if anyone on here uses Rage broad heads but if you aren't you are doing yourself an injustice to not at least try them. I have shot deer with a 30-06 that didn't do the damage the Rage did.

Dropped him off at the taxidermist on Saturday. I will post some pics once I get him back.

That is an awesome buck and a great bow kill. Great advice on not looking at the horns and concentrating on a kill zone. A very common mistake that I have been guilty of. I also shoot the Rage Broadheads and they are nasty. Super job and Congrats.
