Anyone have any thoughts on the new lineup for the finals weekend? Why the switch?

 

Friday:

11 am - 4A

3 pm - 2A

7 pm - 5A

 

Saturday:

11 am - 3A

3 pm - 1A

7 pm - 6A

First, I think the 1A and 3A move to Saturday was to keep from missing school every year. 1A and 3A missed last year, 2A and 4A will miss this year; 1A and 3A will then miss again next year.

 

Second, moving the 1A and 2A games to the middle was an effort to allow more of their fans to come. With the early start and perhaps long travel, this means more people couldn't come. Rotating 1A/2A and 3A/4A from the opener to middle game and back to the opener each year won't give any particular class a disadvantage.

 

Third, keeping the 5A and 6A in their regular spot was done because they are typically the marque games and have large crowds. They didn't alternate days for them because they want the 6A final to wrap up the weekend.

I think KHSAA Assistant Commissioner Julian Tackett does an excellent job and your comments are out of line.

I predict attendance to be down for the whole event.

I predict attendance to be the same as it always has been for every class except 6A. For all the talk of how much support ST X and T, I'll predict there will be less than 8,000for that game outside of Louisville.

I agree, attendance should be very similar with the exception of 6A. I think there are lots of casual fans that come out if the 6A final features St. X, Trinity, and/or Male. There won't be as many casual fans in Bowling Green as there would be in Louisville.

You won't get the same draw from NKY. Last year I worked on Fri and made it easily to Papa Johns for kickoff. Aint happenin this year.

WKU is a great place. The seats all have a good vantage point of the field.

 

The finals will be bittersweet for me, but I can't wait!

According the Google Maps, it's a three and a half hour drive from Cincinnati to BG, almost two hours longer than it is from Cincinnati to Louisville.

Don't forget, it's 8:00 PM EST. However, that also means it will be late after the game. If lucky enough to get there, several will probably be staying overnight rather than driving home afterward.
