October 28, 200916 yr This is probably all for nothing. I think both will lose 1 before it's over. I don't know about UC its possible but I do believe Iowa will have one loss. Iowa isn't UC's problem, now the other teams in front of UC could be a problem.
October 28, 200916 yr If you're a Big 10 fan you had best hope that Iowa does not win the conference. It will set the conference back and be a big black eye. You're saying that having an undefeated team and the chance for a team from your conference to play for a National Title will set the conference back? I don't think so. That's not even logical.
October 28, 200916 yr I think Texas goes down this week. I think UC goes down against Pittsburgh. I think Iowa goes down against Ohio St. I think 'Bama beats Florida in the SEC title game, Boise St. and USC run the table, 'Bama and USC play for the title and everyone in the country complains about it. I think it shakes out exactly how you have it except Florida wins the SEC title game. I hope UC runs the table, Iowa gets beat by anyone other than OSU, Texas gets beat this week, the SEC champ has one loss, and Oregon beats USC. Then Oregon plays for the title against Florida. Then Oregon would jump a team that destroyed them who is unbeaten and Florida who has a loss and got lucky to beat Arkansas b/c of the refs decide who wins it all while 3 unbeaten teams are left in the cold.
October 28, 200916 yr I never gave you the "good teams schedule well OOC". Number one, teams in the SEC, Pac10 or Big 12 (sometimes Big 10 and ACC) don't really need to, as the country and computers say their schedule is hard enough. Teams from other leagues have to schedule OOC to get a shot. Cincy falls into that. There schedule isn't tough, really there isn't a team on it that should be able to keep it close, with the exception of Pitt. They could realistically end the season with a schedule that has none of their opponents ranked in the top 25 at seasons end. That's not a championship schedule if you're in the Big East. UC would most likely have to go on the road to play someone. They aren't going to get UF, Texas, Bama etc. to come to Cincy, nor should they. Those teams would let them do that, but they aren't going to give Cincy a home and home, yet. Actually, Texas and UF never will, but that is a different story. So "Minor teams" such as UC, Boise, TCU, etc. have to step their games up. You can't play in a powder puff league and schedule average teams and hope to sneak into the MNC. That isn't how it should be, or will be. I'd say UC wants a home and home. They aren't going to get that. They need to go on the road and play a major power. Notre Dame isn't bad at all. They have close games, but good teams win close game, IMO. Their style of play isn't going to blow anyone out, but Clausen and Co. would belong on the field against about anyone. OSU is no pushover. They get all this hate because of 1 game. They are sort of rebuilding a bit, but they are still a tough out. You either missed my point again or didn't read it. I said don't give me the "schedule good teams OOC argument". Not "good teams schedule well OOC". Huge difference. You then proceeded to back up my argument while making your point. UC will have a hard time getting big time teams from the P10, B12, or SEC to schedule them b/c they think they play enough good teams already.

You've missed what I'm trying to say.:ohbrother: What I'm saying is that they can find a quality opponent, if they agree to play at the opponents place. UF, Texas, and others would probably do that.

They go to Ohio St soon. So they should only get to play good schools if they go on the road? Why? What makes the Big 10 better than the Big East? Tradition, and tradition alone right now. So we are to assume a win at Penn St is better than rolling South Florida at South Florida. Why?

So we are to assume a win at Penn St is better than rolling South Florida at South Florida. Why? 1. When is Oregon State's last top 5 finish? How many BCS bowls have they been to this decade? A good win, but not the foundation of a MNC Title Run. 2. Had they made this run last season they might of had a shot. When they play OSU they will have a shot. 3. Yes they should have to play on the road. For instance, Texas doesn't need UC on the schedule to get to the title, UC does. They may get a home and home, but UC shouldn't expect it or demand it. 4. Judging from this season, I'd say that Penn State is much better than South Florida. Also, let's not compare playing at Raymond James to playing at Happy Valley. I get your point, I just don't see why it's a problem. If nothing else, Boise or TCU or someone like that would play them.
October 28, 200916 yr GT is right on this, as usual. That UC deserves a spot over Iowa and USC? I can see the Iowa argument... should USC win out.. the Trojans would have a better resume even with a loss.
October 28, 200916 yr Which is why I have said I see very little chance for UC to get in the title game even if they win out... Then what is the argument?

October 28, 200916 yr THEY LOST TO A BAD TEAM! Ok, umm stop yelling. They will have four wins on the road against teams that are all better than UC's best win. That trumps a bad loss IMO. Maybe not in yours, but in mine and the majority of college football fans and voters it does.

What has Texas done this year to deserve a shot other than have a big name and win some games last year? Judging from this season UC would roll Iowa. See anyone can "judge" something.
