Good to see old friend Mike Rogers putting together a nice season.

Our starting QB was hobbled by turf toe and only played in the 4th quarter in that game. We used our JV QB to start the game. The Trinity that BG faced and the team playing now are entirely different squads.

 

I don't think that holds much water! WC used a FRESHMAN QB for the entire game and also played at BG. If I am not mistaken didn't the T/BG game take place in Louisville?

What kind of offense does WC run? I doubt it is near as complex as the one our QBs are asked to run. Using a QB who has spent a total of 1 week practicing with the varsity (at best) to run an offense like ours is not quite the same.

You are the one that brought up using a JV quarterback, I was only stating that WC started a freshman QB. WC won the game versus BG just as Trinity did I don't really see what there is to discuss.

I was merely explaining the score. I am not sure how much play time the freshman for WC has had before the BG game nor am I familiar with WC's playbook/style of offense. Some schools run an offense where the QB is important but not the primary cog, some do not. Simple as that.

 

Only reason I even posted in this thread was due to a facetious comment by a poster who has since explained to me his intent.

It wasn't necessarily a "thrust" into the situation kind of thing, it was more an attempt to get some better effort out of the usual back up and so on. At that point the team hadn't really found itself yet and the head coach made the decision that week(I think). Might have even been mid-week I don't know for sure, I just know I heard about it that Thursday.

I just finished watching the replay. Wow! B.G. fell victim to to old wing-t offense. That offense is a nightmare to play against. Escpecially when you got athletes the caliber of Warren Central. Please W.C. beat Greenwood next week. I don't want the Dragons coming to Rash in the first round. I think WC will beat Christian County in the second rd. Provided the Devils and Purples take care of buisness to meet each other in the 2nd round, I see WC playing for the regional championship. Looks like theres a new "old" kid on the block down in BG! So if WC beats Greenwood, wouldn't that make the Dragons city-county champs in BG? No doubt the Purples will be fightin' mad after this. I wouldn't wanna be Barren Co. next week. On a side note, I noticed Jay Beard was back. He did look really rusty. I wonder if he is playing with pain? Even with the injury he would start for any team in the state. One last thought......Dragonfire, Purplehaze........man is western Kentucky 5A brutal or what? See you guys down the line (hopefully).

devils58, I sure hope Central takes care of business, because you're not the only one that doesn't want WC coming to Rash! I'd love to have a home playoff game, and starting with a top 5 team in 5A is not my idea of fun. Plus, if we won then, I'd love to see us go to the Stadium of Champions. That's one of my favorite places to watch a football game.

If WC wins, then they can certainly claim being the best in the area. BG has 2common opponents with GW (WC & FS) Even if GW wins, I would have to consider BG beat Franklin Simpson 51-9, yet GW lost to FS 21-14. I don't think there would be a clear cut best city/county team. If GW wins, they can assume that title--if it means that much. It comes down to matchups--BG had trouble with teams with great speed & defenses like WC & Owensboro.

If WC plays like they are capable of...like they did against us, they should win Friday.

 

Playoff games mean a whole lot more and quite frankly after last week---those hopes have diminished greatly for me.

Go ahead and ask your soldiers how many times they got help from an A-10...that's the aircraft I used to load tank killing weapons on.

 

I have been in a couple of situations where I was more than happy to see the A-10 coming in. Can never complain about the help.

You say that as if those two teams you just named weren't top 8 teams in their class. I don't know what happened in the Bowling Green/Franklin-Simpson game, but Franklin is a good team, as is AC/S.

 

And let's not dance around it. What exactly is the implication if Warren Central is not in the same league as Owensboro's defense but held them to 200 yards less offense and 16 less points?

After playing both teams, Owensboro and WC are exactly in the same league defensively. Not seeing WC play before last week, it's hard to say why they lost the games they did. But check out these stats...they don't lie.
