What exactly is the implication if Warren Central is not in the same league as Owensboro's defense but held them to 200 yards less offense and 16 less points?

 

My implication is that OHS has played the kind of defense WC played against BG all season long. I am in no way taking anything away from WC. They absolutely dominated what was thought to be the 2nd ranked team in 5A. But I want to see them do it against more than just BG on one friday night in October to make me a believer.

 

And please spare me the Apollo comparisons. Warren East had Apollo beat if they could punt the football.

I realize Apollo may not have been a great comparison--but was only team both teams had played. My point was WC defense gave up less yards in both games than Owensboro did. I repeat, I haven't seen WC play all season so don't know how their defense has played thus far. Was it a shock that they played as well as they did? Yes. Do I think they are just as good as some of the top teams in 5A? Yes....if they continue to play like that.

The difference in our teams Friday was that they did believe they could win and BG's team acted like they just didn't care. Sometimes when talent levels are closely matched, heart wins out. WC always has talent, year in, year out. I think in the past they were missing the coaching and now they have it.

OK, I can agree with that. After all, on back to back weeks we saw polar opposite games from Central.
