That's it. I've had it. As a Highlands fan I want, No I DEMAND a indoor practice facility for our Bluebirds. IF you can beat em, join em I say!

If SK gets this indoor facility I will be extremely disappointed in the Kenton County Public School system. SK has a re-vamped school, 2 gyms, now an indoor practice facility (apparently), and also they are going to be making a new field exclusively for Band practice?

 

Scott, on the other hand, pales in comparison on the inside compared to Simon Kenton and atheltic facilities all need improvement (especially the workout facilities). Scott has 1 gym as compared to Dixie and SK. Sure Scott has a pool, and thats a common argument from alot of people, but SK and Dixie get to use the pool everyday for their respective swimming and diving teams. If Scott got the exclusive use of the pool then I would change my tune but the fact is they don't. The band doesn't even get their own practice field and thus has to use the other athletic fields.

 

Now I know Scott's time is coming for improving both their education and atheltic facilities but I can't help but feel they are getting the short end of the stick in all these decisions. Does Scott have anything that separates their own school from everybody elses? No. Do they have the same atheltic resources and facilities available to them? No. Yet again I just feel like Kenton County isn't giving any dues to Scott whatsoever.

From what I am hearing on here, this "indoor practice facility" sounds like a gym with a rubber floor like the one Dixie already has. I also have heard that Scott is going to get the same facilities in the next couple of years. I don't know how they determined the order of building these that left Scott last so maybe there is a complaint there. But if it is true Scott is getting the same, in a couple of years Scott will have facilities better than the vast majority of the schools in N. Ky. so I wouldn't be too upset.

I hope they do name it after Eric cause he contributes more than anyone on here would know.

It does seem like Scott always comes last.

Maybe in a couple years Miles will fund all of Kenton County's facilities that are being built.

I know Boone County BOE and Kenton County BOE are different but didn't Shaun Alexander try to buy turf field for BCHS and the board wouldn't let him unless he bought it for all schools in Boone?

They wouldn't let him unless he paid for ALL of the cost for Boone County. I think his offer was something like $200k which would not have covered the cost.

He wanted to pay a large portion and then have the BOE pay the rest. They said no because they could not afford to give each school that amount of money.

Scott recently installed new lights on the baseball field. They are unique compared to Dixie to have the pool, a wonderful cross country facility, and a separate soccer field (not shared with football).

 

All Kenton County schools are blessed with funding for facilities improvement. Several projects are going on simultaneously and all schools are in the queue for their fair share. They haven't had to stop for the economy.

Simon Kenton already has a practice gym with a rubber floor like Dixie does. The indoor practice facility is going to be turf (from everything I've heard). No this facility will not have the "Bulldog's" name associated with it as he is not funding it. Scott's time will come, just be patient because in a few years their facilities will be brand new and SK's will have aged some.
