Why in the world is the New Orleans Times-Picayune posting Kentucky's football rankings?

 

I have no idea. Must be an AP pick up that appears on their website for some reasons. The last four weeks that I've searched "ap ky hs football poll" the Times-Picayune has been in the top spot on Google!

You're not understanding my point.

 

It's not just the strength of schedule, but what you do against it.

 

Magoffin's schedule is horrible, and they haven't done a whole lot with it.

 

Not every 5-1 team is good ... sometimes, it means they were able to schedule five teams they could beat.

I'm saying that they should be on the radar - not necessarily in the top 10. If you're going to participate in a poll, you'd best be watching a lot of teams, not just the ones that are "in vogue" or the ones playing the glamorous schedules.

 

It's all about HOW YOU PLAY against a schedule.

Others receiving long, long past due votes -- Jessamine County, Henderson City, Harrodsburg, Evarts, Bishop David, Cawood, Durrett.

 

Tompkinsville shouldn't be over looked. Their wins over Gamaliel and Monticello should be respected...:lol:

I don't do the voting anymore here, but I don't like the way the AP handles it these days. You used to could call your vote in and they had people who cared about high school sports.

 

That isn't the case anymore. They have a list of schools that you go through and click on to vote. The Muhlenbergs are still there, as are Cawood, Cumberland and Evarts. Someone may have just clicked on the wrong team by mistake.

 

Someone should clean that up at the AP office.

 

Another thing to remember, there are only 30-plus teams per class now, so it's not nearly as hard to make the top 10 as it used to be. That's one reason Magoffin gets there. They aren't a top 10 team, but I don't feel too bad about them getting a moment of glory with a 5-1 record for the first time that I can remember.
