We have a Jack Russell Terrier and he sure thinks he is a big dog. Actually 19 lbs. :thumb:

We had a 10 week old beagle tied to our front porch a few months back. Didn't plan to keep him but couldn't find another home and would not take him to the shelter.

 

We have been doing puppy training once a week and he is a very smart dog. We have had some of the barking issues but the training techniques are really working.

Although I have nothing against hunting, I think hunting puppies goes a bit too far.

What about a maltipoo or yorkiepoo?

We are on the hunt. We are looking for a small dog. The kids want a little puppy. I actually do too, even though I know what I am getting into lol. We have a 1 year old very friendly boxer. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a small dog but it looks like they aren't cheap. Any suggestions on breeds, sizes, or where we can find a puppy would be great.

 

I know you said small dog ....but....get another boxer!!!!! We had two of them and they are a blast when paired up with one another. They will keep each other occupied and you and your family very entertained. They will play tirelessly together.

I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of the small (indoor) dogs. I am a dog lover though. I was brought up that a dog was to be kept outside and I prefer those type. That being said I will say that I have a sister in law that has a chihuahua and the little "rat on steroids" as I call it has really grown on me. He will bark like crazy when someone first comes in but after a very short while he will settle down and be very playful or climb up beside you and go to sleep. My sister in law has two small children and the dog is great with them.

So, that is my imput which is not much. You said a small dog so I guess you have ruled out something like a Basset hound, Beagle or German shepard type (great dogs-German shearpards). Labs are also great with kids and can be very good pets.

Oh, good God, stay away from anything with "poo" in the name. You'll just pay a ridiculous amount for a mutt.

My daughter had a Golden retriever. Great dog with great temperment.

I am having trouble finding places to get puppies in NKY. Any suggestions? I am wanting something that will stay small but not scrawny lol. I want it to be cute too though. Shih tzus are right there up our alley. I love Boston terriers too though, but I heard they shed bad. I love our boxer but we can't have 2 in this house and the kids want a small dog to be able to carry around and love. The boxer is more our buddy lol.

Aiden, your pug is adorable. My sister had a pug and after 14 years she had to put him down, and I will indeed miss him. A very friendly loving dog but I don't know if I could handle all the shedding.

Don't believe the hype. Little Daisy sheds a bit, but I probably lose more hairs than her and I can't afford to. I've lived with two Boston's and they have been great dogs. Right now she's flat tuckered out and is sleeping under my left arm, she's very ergonomic. She's also the best kisser in the house, I absolutely love her company.

Please check out shelters and rescues. You might be suprised at what you will find.
