I saw Owen bout 6 maybe 7 times last year and the bigs werent involved near as much as they should. I saw the Owen vs. Anderson game at Owen County. Shelton and Colligan did not take an official shot in the second half, kind of fishy that Anderson pulled away in the 2nd half :D. What will be interesting to see is if the bigs will be involved more.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.:D

ColonelMike, what do you think of South and its players this year?

I like what South has and what it has coming up...

The Dragons surprised some with a strong finish to last year...I was very impressed by the district run.

This team has a solid coaching staff with a wealth of experience, and perhaps more pure shooters than any team should be blessed with.

South can send waves of players at the opponent, which helps the coaching staff maintain the uptempo style of play they prefer.

The last couple of years, we've seen standout rebounding from the guard spot, but the inside play continues to be very suspect, both offensively and defensively.

South can beat anyone on any given night, given their remarkable shooting skills. But the region will continue to elude the Dragons until they find a way to defense the post more consistently and to hit the boards better. But if this group continues to start to find some chemistry - as it seemed to last year - this team has tremendous "upside".

What I'd really like to see, though, at South Oldham are more "butts in the seats". This would translate into points on the scoreboard, guaranteed.

From the way Ballr71 is putting it, there isnt a team in the state that can compete with Owen. They are an "Unstoppable Force?"

That is not what I said. I said they are my pick for the dark horse in the 8th. They have a great core - they are ALL "team" players unlike one of the guards from last year. And they have all (even their younger varsity players) developed so much just since last season. I said that they were going to cause alot of upsets. I don't think ANY team is unbeatable. I just keep it real. JMO

I saw Owen play this summer and an inspired Eminence team should have beaten them. The key was the zone Owen's gaurds couldn't throw it in the ocean and had several turnovers. I also heard there is a chance that Shelton could be out for the year with foot problems.

Hopefully he will play. He is being looked at by several colleges.

It will be a good regional tournament again this year. Lots of talent and balance in the region. The following teams should all have a shot to win the Region: Anderson County, Shelby County, North Oldham, South Oldham, and Simon Kenton. I think Simon Kenton is the most underrated team in the Region this year.

To say they are underrated might be true. However, I seriously doubt they make it out of their district.:sssh:

Where did you hear about Shelton? I tried to research this today and couldn't find out anything about a foot problem...

Saw him yesterday in Florence around 5pm, I thought to myself he should be at practice about now, then I remembered the above post. Regardless of what different people think about a kids talent level or if they are a rival, you sure hate to see something like that happen to a player, especially his Sr. year. I felt bad for Trent Maddox last year with all of his injury problems. Good Luck to Shelton, I hope he can play.

I sure hope he is o.k. Seems like a great kid who has never received the credit he deserves.

Shouldn't he be at practice, regardless of his injury???

Well, I guess there could be several reasons why someone may need to miss practice.

I heard he had foot problems. What colleges are looking at him? That is new to me.
