I'd take Owen over SK right now...but Owen has to prove they can play like a contender against the lesser teams. They spent too much time playing up to - or down to - the level of their opposition last year.

You are absolutely right. It will be interesting.

I don't think Owen County had anyone that could take the ball from CJ. I was at that game as well and what I saw was an Anderson County team that thought Owen county wouldn't be very good. First half I think Anderson was up 2 points at half. And after the half time meeting with Drury Anderson rolled over Owen like they were supposed to. I do think Owen could give some teams some problems this year with their size but they have no guards. Shelton will have to help with the ball handling and that will hurt them. As far as the SK matchup, you have to like SK's guards better and Owen's front court better seems to be even.

You need to recheck your memory my friend. Owen was up by quite a few at the half. And they have several gaurds. Kelly, Lewis, Osborne, and four bigs.

Sorry Ballr71 but if memory serves Papa pigskin is right about the score at the half.

No. Owen was up by two at the half. You all need to get your facts and then come back. And after half - Owen had a two, then Anderson went on a 15-0 run before Owen scored again.

That was last year, right? And this is this year! :deadhorse: :idunno:

Weren't we talking about this year's players? lol:banana:

It really doesn't matter much but for the record Anderson was up 2 at half. It was 4 but Owen ran an out of bounds play under their goal and the big kid tipped one in from the free throw line. One of the best plays I seen all year.

I just thought about something. We may be talking about two different games here. They did play twice and both games were identical. Close for a half and then Anderson blew them out. I don't recall the score of the game in the regional tournament but the one during the season Anderson was up 2 at half.

I broadcast the regional game - Pegasus does each and every boys' and girls' 8th region game - and can shed some details on that game...

Halftime score: Owen County 19, Anderson County 17. Anderson shot just 31.6% in the first half (31.6%), 1 of 7 from beyond the arc (14.3%) and 3 of 5 (60%) at the line. Penny had just 6 points on 3 of 5 shooting in the first half. Russell and Ruggles two points each...

Anderson hit 8 of 13 in the third and outscored Owen, 16-2, to blow the game open en route to a 45-28 victory. Penny finished with a double-double (11 points 10 boards) and Russell scored 14 points.

Thank you. Finally someone saw the same game I saw. My point being - Lewis is going to be a force this year. Not alot to talk about since no one remembers him from last year. But when he played, the team was a better core.

The game you all are talking about was last season if you get technical.

Yes, were being very technical. Several returning Varsity players - Shelton, Culligan, Lewis, Kelly, Osborne, and Williams. That's THIS season! Cannot wait!! Oh, and Lewis, Kelly, and Osborne are SUPER guards (for whomever was stating Owen has no guards). The others are the bigs - Shelton that can step out and hit the three, Williams who DOMINATES the inside, and Culligan 4th or 5th in the state. Will be a fun season!!

I guess we will see then!

From what I have seen from Owen, their frontline looks to be one of the best in Region 8 :ylsuper:
