  1. I couldn't agree more! I love a good "upset"!!! Great job Vance Hall and great job Flyers!!!:dancingpa
  2. I agree with you 100%!! People are rude. It is almost ridiculous! I will not be renewing my subsciption because of the total and complete disregard of these childrens feelings! Do these people think these hard-working, injured at times (Shelton), wonderful student athletes do not see these negative, unthoughtful, and completely rude posts? When it is a WIN it's a team win and when it is a LOSS it's a team loss. The only one that should care about who needs to work harder is the coach! These parents act ridiculous!!
  3. I agree with this comment. It cannot be a loss totally on the guards! Goodness, NONE of them played as well as they usually do. However, wasn't one of the guards the high scorer with 14 points, and another guard tied TWO of the big mens score of 6 points?????? You have to love the blame game. That's when you know you're not a coach, you're a parent!
  4. Great game! Owen County led the paint. Gallatin County did not have an answer for the guards or the bigs!
  5. Love it! Yes he did! And True - you are correct. A "W" is a "W" and Owen has a strong TEAM loaded with "team players" with lots of heart!
  6. Thank you! And your answer is JEALOUSY! They cannot get on here and provide constructive criticism.
  7. True Owen's bigs didn't score alot but I think they did contribute. Trimble double teamed Williams and did not go out on the shooters. Lewis and Osborne made Trimble pay for that. I agree. The bigs DID contribute. Owens guards couldn't get a shot in to them alot of the game. But like you say, with Owens strong guard inventory, opponents will have to pay for trapping the bigs like that. I think Blake Lewis had 12 points in 3 point shooting in first quarter. The remainder of the game he had his own box and chaser and still managed to pop off two more by the end of the game - leaving his stats 6 for 8 from the 3 point line. Those stats were released this morning. However, not knowing the stat situation on the other three that shot 3 pointers - Kyle Kelly had two 3 pointers, Lucas Shelton had a 3 pointer, and Stone Osborne had a 3 pointer. Owens guard inventory is not a dismal as their opponents would like to believe. Having a "missing man" formation due to double teaming will prove to be problematic for Owen's opponents.
  8. I'm confused. I - in no way - (unless you're talking about me saying his talent has peaked) "bashed" Stone. He is a wonderful kid. And all I meant by the peaked was peaked as in HIGHTENED peaked. As far as the other comment, he is too hard on himself, and that, in my opinion, comes with age. I said that Lewis and Kelly did that as well. They use to hold themselves to such a high standard wanting to do right and please all (just like Stone) that less than constructive critisism makes them feel as if they have let the whole world down and it affects their game. So sorry that you perceived that comment as negative. It was not meant in that context!
  9. True. And you're right. Thanks for responding.:thumb:
  10. Oh my. That would be sort of upsetting I guess.
  11. Just the whole mentality of some of the people on BGPs.....people getting on here to down players in ways that MAY be offensive to others. That you cannot get on here and have good forum conversation without it. It's a game. It's not a DEFINITION of one's character, intelligence, or any other defining characteristic that will allow them to succeed in life. I guess when some people learn that, these sorts of forums will be fun to read and interact on. When it comes to a TEAM - not who's at practice, who's not, who starts, who plays, etc. Its a TEAM for that very reason. If you're more worried about all those other things, it has been proven for years and years that you will losing season.
  12. I agree and I pray that he is physically healthy enough to do something in college if that is what he WANTS to do. He has come far and can go further!
  13. I had heard something about that but didn't know them enough to ask, but I wasn't aware they had lost a Coach. What's going on up there? Keep us posted.
  14. They are both good ball handlers - quick and decisive, gets the balls into the big men, strong, lewis is long, this years team works very well together. It should be a very interesting year in the 8th!! Sounds like we have ALOT of talent in the 8th! GO 8TH!!:dancingpa
  15. MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!! And for those who keep trashing Shelton, you all should be ashamed! That poor boy has several choices for college, not just basketball - Basketball does not DEFINE anyone's life (except for those of you that have no life other than to get on here and trash players. He is a GENIUS and a WONDERFUL student and young man. He may have to have surgery, and may not even get to play his senior year much, if at all. Shame on you all:irked:!!!!!!!!
  16. I disagree. Their spots are not in danger. Osborne is a good player. And he will prove to be a good asset to Owen (and possibly start a few if needed) And IMO, he will do great this season. But his youth is his disadvantage. However, I would love to watch him his senior year. If he stays with it, which has been proven in the past for him to change gears, he will be a HOSS his senior year. But there is no way he would have the talent, strength and skills to replace Kelly OR Lewis this year:popcorn:.
  17. Hopefully he will play. He is being looked at by several colleges.
  18. Agree. But the bigs will have to prove that they actually want the rebounds. The one boy Williams (isn't he a sophomore?) is the only one that acts like he wants to be on the floor half the time. Smaller players jump circles around the other two to get the ball while they take the wait and see approach as to who is gonna get the rebound. I will admit Culigan is very strong under the basket, but as for Shelton I am not impressed. Owen's guards (Lewis and Kelly use to be at that age) are two of the teams strongest assets this year, along with Williams and Culigan. Osborne is young, and his talent has peaked. He lets his emotions ruin his game as well. Plus, he doesn't listen to the older players/coaches as to what to do. He plans his own run and loses the ball, or he gets too down on himself to continue (alot like Lewis and Kelly). This year should be fun to watch if they have all grown a little and are able to leave the emotions on the bench.
