As I said before the season even started, everybody in the NKy 6A District (sans Campbell and Cooper) has a great "O" but the team with the best "D" wins this District and at the moment, that's SK!

I knew this would happen one the Cougars played a solid team. They need to have a schedule like they used to, playing Highlands and CovCath in the regular season. Playing tougher teams makes your team tougher, JMO.

After watching the game on TV, SK's QB worries me almost as much as Simpson. You know Simpson is going to get his yards and a score or two. But this season, they are not nearly as one-dimensional and this additional threat by Lawrence to both run and throw the ball makes them very dangerous and tough to defend.

 

Add in the intangible of leadership and Lawrence is a challenge to say the least.

SK's offense is much more balanced this season. Last year in 15 games they had a tad over 900 yds via the air. After five games this season, 866 passing. Not only that, but it's not just one "go to" guy, Carroll, Winkler, Krummen have all made some nice plays so far.

It seemed to me that once Conner went down 14 in the 3rd quarter they started to panic and made some dumb turnovers deep in their own territory that let it get out of hand. As far as the "running it up" issue SK was still taking multiple deep shot when it was well over. Personally doesn't bother me, I always say if you don't like it stop it. However, I would suggest that SK keep an eye on some of their students. About 25 kids were walking through the Conner side chanting "scoreboard" and generally trying to get in peoples faces. They were lucky they didn't start a riot. Its a shame that a few idiots can make a whole school look bad.

I have to agree about the SK kids coming over to Conner's side. It was in poor taste.

Do I think SK ran up the score, not so much

 

Up 42-14 with 4 minutes left in the game. You keep your first team in the game and throw for a TD to go up 49-14. Get the ball back and keep your first team in except for MS and score again? How can you not say SK ran the score up?

I thought SK would win the game but I thought they would win with a little more class. JMO

 

Wait just one minute here...Conner was predicted by nearly as many to win this football game. Conner jumped out to a 14-0 lead. If you don't expect SK to score as many points as they can, you are nutz. Maybe they felt they had to prove that Conner didnt belong on the field with them this year. BTW, who ever said SK had any class anyway...:lol:

As far as running up the score, the way conner has been doing it the last couple years to other smaller schools, Lloyd , Cooper it was only a matter of time before someone did it to them. What I don't like is having your starters in that late with the game out of reach with the risk of injury. If I remember, didn't Simpson get hurt back in Aug. against Holmes when the were up by 50?

Unfortunately, this happens at EVERY school.

Simpson is incredibly fast, everyone knows that. I just wonder, he doesn't look close to 100%. He is still limping noticeably. Is this his normal walk, or is he still not healed? His straight ahead speed is there, but his cuts aren't quite as explosive. Is this an issue where the doctors said that he'd just have to play through the pain b/c he wouldn't do any more damage to it? If not, I would be upset that he stepped on the field at least against NewCath.

 

I was :madman::taz::madman::taz::madman: I think your assesment is correct, he's healed enough to be the best back in NKY, but I don't think he's healed all the way.

Keep in mind the Jugg's coach was previously SK's coach and is friends with alot of the current coaching staff.
