September 20, 200917 yr When Ben Busby turned away and started slapping his helmet angrily. You knew it was bad. Even Jim Leavitt knew immediately, because he and the trainers ran out onto the field to Matt, right after the whistle sounded. The crowd started chanting "Grothe", "Grothe", "Grothe", "Grothe" until they got him up. I guess the MRI was done this morning, but last I checked, the results won't be official until tomorrow. However, by the tone of Coach Leavitt's post game pressor and his comments this morning, it does sound like his season is over. He's already a red shirt, so his career is most likely over as well. September 20, 200917 yr :scared: I hate to hear this about Grothe. He was a very exciting player to watch!
September 20, 200917 yr See: Mauk, Ben. He can apply, but if it isn't two injury related redshirts you get denied 99.9% of the time... Wasn't there a coach that went off on the NCAA a couple of weeks ago over this exact situation. He had a player, one of his running backs that was a 5th year senior, one that had graduated already, had taken a year off to take care of his sick mom, or aunt, and was injured in the first game.

September 20, 200917 yr Author Wasn't Ben Mauk's situation a little different because of the transfer from Wake Forest to UC? Nope. That NCAA loophole had zero to do with his appeal or ruling to get a 6th year to play 4...
