That's who first came to mind for me. One-dimensional, and almost always works like a charm. Hard to argue with his success over the years.

 

It really isn't all that hard to argue with the results,while many people mentioned on here have racked up a significant amount of wins and even had some limited success on the big stage, who is to say that that with a more balanced attack they might have had even more success when it counted.

Haywood Belfry, Hilton Bell, Matney JC, McGlone Russell and those guy have had ALOT of success. Just about more than anyone in the state.

I agree. A coach might be able to mix up formations and play calls with the best of them, but it's probably difficult to get a group of high school athletes to execute "multi-dimensional" game plans from week to week. It's kind of like being the jack of all trades and master of none.

 

Russell's coach Ivan McGlone is who immediately came to mind when I saw the thread title, but as others have posted, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The proof is in the results. Keep it simple! :thumb:

Owensboro Cath throws the ball about every down its created some success for them using the spread, but I think if a coach is one dimensional and his kids in his program dont fit that dimension its going to be a very long season.

Great point! I think someone on here already said that to be a successful coach you must adapt to the skills of the players you are coaching.

I would say similar to the "run only" coaches, concentrated in Eastern KY, that Coach Edge has had a lot of wins, but not a lot of success in bringing home titles. Possibly a little more diversity with him would go along way?

Coach Copley at Greenup County is very one-dimensional. Maybe 2 pass plays a game. He dominates with the run.

Coach Copley is in his first year at Greenup Co. he has been known to run the ball and then when they stop that he starts running the ball. It worked for him in Pikeville and it is starting to show alot of promise at GC.
