What does your individual school rally around? Where did it come from?

 

Lynn Camp has picked up the "Hoo-Rah" chant from somewhere. It is sort of like the military "Oorah", but sounds different. I have no real clue to where that one got going.

 

Also, how many of you go by two different mascot type names? LC has the Wildcats as a mascot name, but have unofficialy picked up the old "Hitmen" nickname also. Whitley County has the Colonels, but has "Red Storm" as an alter ego.

 

How about the rest of you?

Any "Friday Night Lights" clever sayings around your team?

Any identity problems?

Identity confusion I would say with GRC ( George Rogers Clark), but many call us Clark Co. We even have Clark Co on our basketball uniforms...:idunno:

I thought they were two different schools for YEARS.

At Boyle County, one person will scream....."Who Ya With???" and then the crowd will say......

 

 

"REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

 

 

This is repeated about 4 or 5 times per sequence. We do this at least 3 times a game.

Well let me explain here, ''Oorah'' is the US Army's war cry, while ''Hoo-Rah'' is the Marine Corp's war cry. They both are form the military.

At Cooper you get the We Are COOPER

Somerset has used "Jumper Pride" to end practices, games etc. for several years now. They also have a sign, shirts etc that says: "Fear is........Gold Headgear."

 

We do have a cheer that we do after a win that goes back several decades. The team gathers and chants:

 

Boom-chicka-boom, boom-chicka-boom, boom-chicka-boom chicka boom boom boom! Rah hoo-rah hey! Rah hoo-rah hey! Somerset Briar Jumpers rah rah rah!

 

That one goes back AT LEAST 50 years.

Before I moved here I called it Clark Co. Once we moved here we found out that all the "locals" called it GRC. I would tell people that I was teaching at GRC and they would say, " I thought you moved and were teaching at Clark Co." :lol:

Not that this is a big deal, but the Army war cry has no "R" in it. It sounds more like "Hooah" and is an acronym for Heard Understood Acknowledged. The Hoo-Rah is a Navy and Marine thing. Any one that has ever been in the Army will atest to versatility of this simple slang acronym. It can be used for just about anything.

Fort Campbell has the "You wish you were a Falcon!" cheer that usually comes after each touchdown.
