Coop, my heart will be rooting big time for Dixie in this game and the reason is below:

"Parton still remembers Tanner's full military funeral. He said it started in Bromley, went up Sleepy Hollow Drive to Dixie Highway, and ended at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger. The distance was nearly eight miles.

"It's the largest funeral procession I've ever seen," Parton said.

 

 

My comment:

 

 

I can remember the last night I saw Steve alive. Pat myself and Steve went down route 8 in Pat's car and drank a couple of beers as Steve was leaving in a day or so. We were kids who had grown up together and lived within blocks. They went to Dixie and I went to CovCath but we were still friends, and we talked about what the future would bring us. No way did I think that would be the last time I would see Steve alive.

 

 

A month or so later, on my way walking to Mass early on a Sunday morning I saw Mr. Tanner walking like he was in a daze, and as I got closer I could hear and see him crying. As I approached Mr. Tanner he saw me and told me Steve had been killed, I don't think that to this day, I have had a more sickening feeling.

 

 

 

As a pallbearer, I was in a car near the front and as we climbed the Sleepy Hollow Hill by St. Agnes, I couldn't believe the number of school buses and cars below as far as the eye could see. We arrived at the Cemetery and it just seemed that we had to wait forever for all the buses and cars to arrive

 

 

Steve indeed was and is a hero even to this day.

Since I've seen both teams, I'll make a prediction. Ryle wins easily. Which means it will probably be a close game.

I'm not sure how it doesn't mean anything now. Did Dixie get some new recruits after the scrimmage or what?

 

I've seen Dixie play since then and they do not look like the same team that Ryle pummeled in pre-season. They seem to have gotten their act together, albeit perhaps not quite so much on defense. And I'm sure Coach Warner is telling his players to forget about the pre-season game - it's ancient history now. Go into a game thinking you are going to rout someone and sometimes funny things can happen.

Both teams have improved, not just Dixie. The Raiders will not take this game lightly. Good things should happen Friday for Ryle even if it stays close for the first half.

Ryle, simply put, will handle Dixie physicaly. Ryle by 35-42.

Thanks TOG - I didn't know the history between Steve and yourself. I've known his plaque holds a very special place in your heart. Thanks for sharing your story, and I'm so glad Dixie will once again have it placed as it should be.

Sorry Dixie but Ryle wins this one in about the same fashion as Conner and Simon.

After seeing Ryle handle NCC the way they did, I'm a beleiver. Ryle is very good. Has a very balanced attack. I think it will be a good game but I will go with Ryle on this one. 21-7

I see Ryle's offense being too much for Dixie. I am interested in seeing how many points Dixie can put up against Ryle's D. Dixie is averaging 28 points a game against a tough schedule. Dixie's defense has not been quite as impressive. I will go with Ryle 41-20.

It may be more interesting than many think...stay tuned.

Dixie played pretty good games against both Conner and SK with Turnovers being the big difference. Ryle is probably not as good as either, so this should be a good game if Dixie doesn't turn it over.

Ryle rolls past Dixie in this one. Score wil be closer then the game actually is. Final being 42-27. Dixie will score late once or twice to make the score a bit more respectable.
