Coop, my heart will be rooting big time for Dixie in this game and the reason is below:

 

Pat Parton said it best,

 

 

"Parton still remembers Tanner's full military funeral. He said it started in Bromley, went up Sleepy Hollow Drive to Dixie Highway, and ended at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger. The distance was nearly eight miles.

"It's the largest funeral procession I've ever seen," Parton said.

 

 

My comment:

 

 

I can remember the last night I saw Steve alive. Pat myself and Steve went down route 8 in Pat's car and drank a couple of beers as Steve was leaving in a day or so. We were kids who had grown up together and lived within blocks. They went to Dixie and I went to CovCath but we were still friends, and we talked about what the future would bring us. No way did I think that would be the last time I would see Steve alive.

 

 

A month or so later, on my way walking to Mass early on a Sunday morning I saw Mr. Tanner walking like he was in a daze, and as I got closer I could hear and see him crying. As I approached Mr. Tanner he saw me and told me Steve had been killed, I don't think that to this day, I have had a more sickening feeling.

 

 

 

As a pallbearer, I was in a car near the front and as we climbed the Sleepy Hollow Hill by St. Agnes, I couldn't believe the number of school buses and cars below as far as the eye could see. We arrived at the Cemetery and it just seemed that we had to wait forever for all the buses and cars to arrive

 

 

Steve indeed was and is a hero even to this day.

 

Thank you Dixie, for not forgetting about Steve!

Ryle 35 Dixie 7

Ryle 34-24.

Ryle's just starting to fire on all cylinders and will be more difficult to defend than they were Week -1 (that's negative 1.) I look for Ryle to score 40+. I don't know if Dixie can score more.

I have a hard time believing DH can control the Raider's ground attack.

Ryle wins this one.

I think this will be Ryle big, Elliot will have big numbers. Dixie will have trouble scoring against that Ryle defense. Ryle 35 Dixie 14

Ryle is in a class way above Dixie. They are very good and very big. This will be a good time for their 2nd team to get experience for next year. Ryle names the score.

Ryle wins easy.

Since it is Homecoming, At Dixie, should be a huge crowd....Dixie may wake up, and surprise Ryle at home....

I'm taking the 'dog. Dixie by 4.

Dixie is a good football team but I still don't think they can beat Ryle this year.

When Ryle pulled their starters in the 3rd period, it was 41-7. Yes, Dixie turned the ball over (or Ryle forced them, take your pick) a couple of times, but Ryle basically manhandled them the entire time. That being said, it was a pre-season game, so it means nothing now. :thumb:

I'm not sure how it doesn't mean anything now. Did Dixie get some new recruits after the scrimmage or what?
