September 11, 200917 yr Rep. Joe Wilson's ignorant interruption of the President was wrong, no doubt about it. But who remembers this? Was this OK? And just have a gander at who was part of it. :sssh: Hmmmm...
September 11, 200917 yr I have no problem with any of it. Just as I wouldn't have a problem if any president would call them out.
September 11, 200917 yr Politics, plain and simple. It's not the same as calling the President a liar ...
September 11, 200917 yr Politics, plain and simple. It's not the same as calling the President a liar ... They're both disrespectful, any argument to the contrary is disingenuous. Incidentally, has nayone claimed that Joe Wilson was incorrect in his assertion?
September 11, 200917 yr Pretty rude IMO, but do I have a big problem with it? No, not really. It's not that big of a deal.
September 11, 200917 yr They're both disrespectful, any argument to the contrary is disingenuous. Incidentally, has nayone claimed that Joe Wilson was incorrect in his assertion?I didn't say it wasn't disrespectful, but I don't think the two are necessarily comparable.
September 11, 200917 yr Pretty rude IMO, but do I have a big problem with it? No, not really. It's not that big of a deal. Did you have a problem with Wilson calling Obama a liar?
September 11, 200917 yr They're both disrespectful, any argument to the contrary is disingenuous. Incidentally, has nayone claimed that Joe Wilson was incorrect in his assertion? As a matter of fact that haven't. Not saying he was right or wrong but Obama continues to ref the 45 or so million people without insurance. Aren't 12 million of those illegals?
September 11, 200917 yr I view the two much differently. Maybe I'm wrong. Joe Wilson's was an angry outburst, directly showing the president up and insulting him by shouting that he's a liar. It had a far more "hateful" feel to it to me. The example in this thread was the entire group applauding something the president said to make a point and make it clear where they stood as a whole. It had a lighter feel, although they were certainly making a serious point. Incidentally, interrupting the speech to applaud something the president has said is a regular occurrence during these addresses. Shouting liar at the president isn't a common occurrence. I view the two completely different.

It's not like Bush said something they liked and were applauding him for it.
September 11, 200917 yr Did you have a problem with Wilson calling Obama a liar? I haven't read anything about that situation.
September 11, 200917 yr You are comparing apples to Onions here RTS the two incidents are not remotely similar . They were actually cheering a remark that the President said . All be it cynically . At a State of the Union address there are expected to be interruptions and applause and I dare say that a lot of that applause was to drown out the Democrats .
September 11, 200917 yr Free Speech, Wilson was out of line. How many times have you been at a speech and the speaker said something you didn't agree with? Did you yell out? This showed a total lack of respect and he needs to be taught a lesson. My $00.02

As a matter of fact that haven't. Not saying he was right or wrong but Obama continues to ref the 45 or so million people without insurance. Aren't 12 million of those illegals? Yes multiple sources.... this from factcheck.org The House bill contains a section (Sec. 246) titled "NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS," which states: "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."
