President Obama Does NOT Advocate Personal Responsibility

No, it wasn't nailed. Taking care of other people is the ultimate in personal responsibility.

Close. But not exactly. Taking care of others who CAN'T take of themselves is where the responsibility lays. Not for those who will not...

Empowering others to take care of themselves is the ultimate in personal responsibility.

Taking care of other people who are quite capable of taking care of themselves is a disservice to mankind.

You nailed it.

I'll take care of who I want with my money, you take care of who you want with yours. Any other way is being Robin Hood.........and he was a glorified thief.

So no one believes that Obama's policies and/or personal beliefs do NOT promote personal responsibility?

I won't say that President Obama's policies or personal beliefs as a whole do NOT advocate personal responsibility, but any system that rewards people for not taking care of themselves, such as welfare, does not advocate personal responsibility.

You are right, but doesn't taxation to support welfare fall under the category of societal responsibility? Personal responsibility is at a more individual level.

I have a question for you Clyde...

If you hate the stuff the likes of Hannity, Rush, Beck, etc. say, why do you constantly post threads regarding them and pay so much attention to them?

And you nailed it...
No, he didn't nail it. Personal responsibility should not be forced on you by the government.

Then why the heck are you so upset all the time about people who don't excercise personal responsibility? They're just excercising their American right to the lack thereof.

BTW...this thread has so many nails, I could build a house! :D

This house needs some bricks and ace you bricked it, just like my basketball shot.

Personal and not governmental.

Fair question. First and foremost, like it or not, they drive public opinion due to their considerable audiences.

In this particular example, I had just listened to the President's speech to the students. I was then curious as to how it was going to be received by Rush (although I already knew that answer).

I don't really see the problem with listening to all sides of the issues, do you? Heck, sometimes I agree with them on a particular viewpoint. Usually, though, I just get a kick out of their hypocrisy. Latest example, Hannity rails against someone for using a college thesis to bash someone he likes (I think it was a gubenatorial candidate in VA). The thesis was 20 years old. Says people can change, etc. Lo and behold, it turns out he bashed Hillary Clinton during the Dem primaries for a paper she wrote 38 years ago. I also got a kick out of Beck working overtime to find stuff on Van Jones without mentioning to anyone that Van Jones' organization was primarily responsible for him losing 30 some odd sponsors for his "Obama is a racist comment." It doesn't diminish in any way the words and actions of Jones. It simply reveals Beck's true agenda.

So, I listen and read all sides. I'd encourage others to do the same. Very enlightening. Keeps me from simply regurgitating one side's talking points.

Except when it is forced.

You don't see me saying the government should take your money for it though, do you? :p
