You think Oscar for somebody that certainly doesn't like Highlands you are continuously on a HHS thread adding your 1/2 penny advise. Trust me we know they are not playing on all cylinders, but honestly Withrow those that make this pick are just adding fodder. This will be a chance for the young birds to play and perhaps a few might have sometime to mend their wings. We are aware that St X looms but the boys will take one game at a time, because at this point they need too. Let's not throw them to the wolves either they played a couple of good teams to start the season and BW played a lot better against HHS then the week prior to Dixie. I had the entire BW fan base sitting around us in the stands telling us so. This team can handle the NKY contingent. It will have to step up to compete with St X.; now if you want to talk about being overzealous in regards to national contention, I would agree.

 

You're misunderstanding. I don't not like Highlands THE TEAM. I don't much care for some of the fans constant over the top statements/hype that you mentioned. Some of the "No one is better, or will ever be Highlands" banter. But as for the football team, nothing against them. I think they'll handle Withrow, easily. I think X is going to be a whale of a game for them though..and for once I actually think Highlands fans know this and agree. I agree also that they can handle the NKY teams. The only team I saw coming close was Ryle..and now SK, but they don't play SK.

Highlands wins big they are the better team, will be more disciplined and better coached. I've heard that Coach Mueller is still really revered over there, should make for an interesting game.

I'm almost positive that one of the new face lifts is field turf. We went over to Withrow to a JV game last year and it sure has a unique feeling but nothing compares to the pit....

I think it is one of the neatest stadiums I have ever been too. Certainly a classic.:thumb:

Having watched the tape, Highlands better not overlook Withrow. They have some fast and dangerous players that will hurt you if they get the ball in the open (which is Doc Gamble's offensive style). Winton Woods beat them like a drum on the score board, but the score board didn't give a good indication of the quality of some of Withrow's players. Winton Woods is a very, very good D 2 Ohio team by the way. Withrow made a bunch of silly mistakes and had something like 7 turnovers. If they play like that, then yes we will beat them like Winton Woods did. But if they cut down there turnovers and stupid mistakes (like Beechwood did against us) then it won't be a blow out. Withrow will be a very good test for our young defensive secondary. They threw the ball something like 75% of the time and used a "bunch" (pardon the pun) of receiver sets. Offensively we should be okay, but defensively, Withrow presents a lot of challenges for us.

I'm serious. I really am. Just look at Beechwood. You look at the Beechwood vs Dixie score and you come away thinking Beechwood isn't all that good. What did Beechwood have, something like 5 or 6 turnovers against Dixie? But the coaching staff tells Rigdon, if you get pressured, throw the ball out of play. Which he did on about 4 or 5 plays against Highlands and as a result of not forcing the ball, avoids having any interceptions. Against Dixie, the Tigers had what 2 or 3 fumbles? Beechwood coaches get on them about taking better care of the ball and Beechwood has no fumbles against Highlands. If Withrow doesn't have the 7 turnovers against Winton Woods, it's a completely different ball game. Not saying Withrow would have won, but maybe they would have. They shot themselves in the foot from the opening bell. In fact on their first offensive play, they fumbled, Winton Woods picked it up and returned it for a touchdown. On the last play of the first half, hiking the ball on Winton Woods 2 yd line, Withrow throws an interception that Winton Woods returns for a 98 yd touchdown. They made so many stupid plays in the Winton Woods game it was almost sad. Now if Doc Gamble and the other coaches can get that straightened out in a week, the Tigers will be a much, much different team than the one that got blown out by Winton Woods. And trust me, Withrow has some very dangerous and capable play makers. I just hate to see the Highlands fans assume it is going to be a blow out; have Withrow play a better game (ie avoid the turnovers); Highlands not blow Withrow out; and then folks get on here and say Highlands is way overrated. I'm telling you and others, Withrow has some truly talented players and if they don't do stupid plays, the game will be closer than many are predicting it to be.

Exactly and the Beechwood performance against Highlands vs the Beechwood performance against Dixie is just more proof of that simple fact. Hopefully Withrow will commit a bunch of turnovers against Highlands like they did against Winton Woods, but I wouldn't rely on that happening in making my prediction.
