For it to be a real rivalry it has to have a cool name. Greenup/Russell is the "Backyard Brawl", and Russell/Raceland is the "Rail City Bowl", I propose Raceland/Greenup should be the "Front Yard Brawl".

I agree, but I think this most recent situiation really shows the problem with kids transfering and parents letting 16 year old kids make decisions that the parent should make. Sorry to rant, but I do agree with you Ram.

I agree, the decision to transfer schools should not be taken lightly, and should be looked at from all angles.

Doc, you are too well informed on most subjects on BGP, but you fumbled the ball away on declaring the Ram team of 1985 was a District champion. They were not, the sustained many injuries that year and finished under .500. So, you beat a under .500 depleted Rams team. Just a little food, but you do a great job for both schools.

That one is perfect. Back when I was in highschool all the Tomcats, Devils, etc. called us "river rats":lol:. Which I guess is true since I could almost throw a baseball in the river from my backyard.

:thumb::thumb: No problem here either. I beleive a kid (any kid) should play where he wants to and his parents want to send him. Should they not meet KHSAA requirements then there is nothing anyone could do about it. Should it be a matter of them not meeting the individual school's and/or teams requirements then that is o.k. too and their decision. A student/athlete has to adapt to the certain school systems and/or teams way of doing things, not the other way around.

I am talking in general terms here and not about any one or number of kids. I wish all the best of luck and for them to be where they and their parents want them to be and is best for the kid.

As could I, it is not a long shot at all to the river from over here in the bottom, I can go three or four blocks (if that) and I am on the river bank. BTW, I am still called a river rat at times, I don't mind it at all. I have been called much worse (and probably still am) in my day. :lol:.

GCHS and their football field are also a "stones throw" from the river.

Heck, with GCHS so close to the Greenup locks and dam we could call it that "dam rivalry" :sssh:

Greenup comes into this game with a lot of confidence after last weeks performance. Raceland is finally home after three weeks on the road & like Dorothy says" theres no place like home" I expect Raceland to get a win in front of the home folks in this big rivalry game. Good luck to both.

BTW, thanks for the compliment with regards to the kids. My loyalties are sometimes questioned by some with regards to where I went to school and now where my kids go to school. I truly wish GC all the luck and want a 10 win season for them but I have to pull for the Rams since my daughter is a varsity volleyball player there and Nathaniel is a second grade player and I'm a coach and Mikayla is cheering on the sidelines on Friday nights. I would be in big doo doo if I were at GC for games instead of on the Raceland sidelines.
