Mayfield 21 Paducah Tilghman 12

Featured Replies

Mayfield led 21-0 at the half, and Tilghman scored twice in the fourth quarter on big plays.

Tyrese Murrell, Mayfield's leading rusher, didn't play offense in the second half because of a thigh bruise and/or a hamstring injury ... I've heard both.

Tilghman's speed on defense took away some of Mayfield's quick-strike capability, but the Cardinals pretty much dominated the first half. They didn't seem to have the same intensity in the second half.

Congrats Cardinals. Looks like the Mayfield of old is back and getting ready to make a run in November.

Mayfield looked sharp in the 1st half. They went to cruise control in the 2nd and had a 21-0 lead with about 8 minutes to go in the game. Tilghman never quit and had 2 big plays which was about all they did the whole night.

This is always a tough game that both squads get primed for. Congratulations Cardinals on the win.

Mayfield's win was NEVER in doubt after the opening play where Xavier Shelton took a screen pass to the house. Weather delay took a little of their momentum, but once Mayfield got to a 21-0 lead...

Mayfielld went into cruise control and the players relaxed...Mayfield is clearly 4-5 TD's better than Paducah Tilghman at this point...Tilghman had some good size and speed, but really doesn't have much success with what they have. I didn't think they utlized Forrest very well, but that could have been with the "D" Tyrese Murrell and Shelton had on him most of the night!

MOST BORING GAME I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME BY THE WAY!!!

Any news on Murrell?

Exactly...Mayfield held Tilghman to just 25 total yards in the first half. The 30 minute lightning delay in the 1st quarter really took alot of the intensity out of both teams...and after halftime Mayfield put it on cruise control. To tilghman's credit they didn't quit during the game. I also am one that was a little puzzled as to why Tilghman did not go to Forrest (6'4" receiver) more than what they did as he is a great athlete with speed and jumping ability. Murrell did not let him get open, but still would have thought they would have tried more.

Up next for the Big Red...Calloway County and Mr. Willis. We owe them some payback after the last couple of years!!!

Other than the 1st Quarter soaking, this was not one of the more memorable PT/Mayfield games. But a win is a win and while the intensity was not as high throughout as the previous 2 games, this Cardinal team took care of business and finished the job. Guhy was just a little off target with some of his passes, but most games is usually good for completing 2 out of every 3 or so. Luckily, it wasn't that big of a deal on this night and he got it out of his system. I look for him to have alot more success this week when he can again just heave it deep and let his speedy receivers just run under it on their way to the end zone.
