I would put Jonathan Jackson up against him anyday. And I haven't seen the Lewis kid play. But I suppose we'd be equally impressed with each. Jonathan is flat out a specimen.

In the good programs, if you are a special player you MAY get varsity playing time as a SOPHOMORE. Very, very rarely does a freshman get PT in the good programs above the 1A, perhaps even 2A level. Obviously, any freshman that gets PT is really good. But I agree with the posts that freshmen don't play varsity if you have good program in place.

 

Bell County has been known to start a few freshmen. I would say they have had a pretty good program over the last twenty five years.

Lloyd got beat 41 -12 by Holmes in Wk 1. Playing freshman, especially at QB, is usually not a recipe for success.

The Lewis kid came into the game against South Western and made several tackles, I believe Harlan County is better with him on the field Frosh or not. Wondering if his play earned him a starting position this week?

If they are starting a freshman, I guarantee you it is Dexter Smith. I thought they had a good QB coming back though? Since Lloyd was not able to field a freshman team, it wouldn't shock me to see both the Smiths (they are twins) get varsity playing time.

You are correct. Dillion McGuire was out sick and Dexter started at qb as a freshmen. His twin brother Dillon saw action at full back and some time as lb.

McCreary has a freshman playing linebacker (and sometime DE) that is 6-5 and weights 235 and he hits like a truck. He would get PT on most if not all 4-A teams and I would have to guess most 5-A teams. I grew up in Ohio where freshmen didn't play varsity ever and still there were a freshmen or two that started from time to time. There are always exceptions and exceptional (freshmen) athletes. IMHO!

Are there any other freshmen dressing varsity? How many? Since Lloyd doesn't have a freshman team this year I would guess there are several freshmen that are at least dressing varsity.
