Anchorman sequel to be released in 2 years?

Featured Replies

Will Ferrell works much better when he just makes brief appearances such as in Wedding Crashers or on Eastbound & Down...when asked to lead a full movie it falls apart.

Elf and Old School were pretty good with him being the lead.

I would say Luke Wilson is credited with the lead in that film. But he does have a BIG part and is definitely great in that movie...that is very close to being an exception to my made up rule

I didn't like Elf at all.

OMG, I could have played Ferrel's part in that film and it would have still made 209 mil. You've got two great lead actors, of course it's going to make tons of dough.
I don't know...his cameo is great.

What is she doing? I never know what she's doing back there.

The first one was hilarious, but at times you have to let the movie just live in its glory on its own. Some movies ruin the franchise by adding sequels, etc. I hope this is not true

Totally agree. First one was great, second can't be as good.

This was one of those movies I didn't think was as funny as it was supposed to be the first time. The 2nd time I watched it I realized it had some of the best one liners ever. Love it!

If I had a post for everytime someone said that i would be "All-World".

Anchorman is by far a 2 or 3 view "instant" classic.

"I'm Ron Burgundy?"

I agree completely!!! Absolutely NOTHING funny in the first one for my taste.

For some reason your avatar gave that away.

I was actually the opposite. The movie was never funnier to me than it was the first time. I love the movie, and have watched it many, many times, but I've often wished I could go back and experience that first viewing again. I think The Hangover is going to be the same way when I see it again.

I want Old School 2 first.

Old School and Anchorman are two perfect examples of a movie that cannot be equaled or topped, so a sequel should not be attempted. It's just not possible to be as funny with the same premise.

 MEATLOAF!!!

FWIW, I liked Anchorman.

Will Ferrel does the idiot comedy better than anyone in Hollywood right now, but that is because Adam Sandler decided to try to move on to better things(not entirely true as he made Click withint he last 4 years).

Most movies of that type are good for a few laughs the first time around but on repeated viewings are found to be lacking in any kind of intellectual depth in their humor. To be fair though, most comedies made in the last 10-20 years really aren't particularly intelligent comedies.

Agreed...that's what makes movies such as The Big Lebowski so amazing.

I easn't a huge fan of the first, so I probably won't be taking the time to see this one.

Agreed, but on the flipside.....those who are trying to create "intelligent movies" generally are praised by critics regardless of what the final product looks like, just because of what they are trying to do. For example, the critics love anything and everything that the Coen brothers do. Don't get me wrong, they've had some good flicks- Miller's Crossing, The Ladykillers, Fargo, and Burn after Reading- but movies like Barton Fink and No Country for Old Men get praised based on what the Coen brothers try to do, not what they actually produce.
