August 20, 200917 yr Kennesaw Co. Georgia has a mandatory gun ownership law... They have the lowest crime rate in America...Kennesaw isn't a county it is a small town, I used to live there. I also never owned a gun and it was a more or less an affluent suburb of Atlanta so that plays a big part in the crime rate. I also don't believe the statement that it had the lowest crime rate.

August 20, 200917 yr You are talking about two different things here - protection if a crime occurs and guns being a deterrent to crime. I would probably agree with you for the most part that guns don't necessarily deter crime, as criminals don't give a ton of forethought into whether the person they are victimizing is armed or not. However, I don't think it's a lame argument in the slightest that having a gun can protect you should you become a (potential) victim. :thumb: You make an excellent point. I do believe that some criminals take this potential into account, but as a whole you have defined the reason Im packing.
