Jim Schue Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Post your list of what you feel are the top 10 Neil Young tunes. I'll be thinking of mine this morning while in a department meeting. I do know one thing for sure: "Powderfinger" is No. 1.

AshlandTomcat Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 "Thrasher" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Hatz Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Here are Mine: No order (Depends upon Mood). Ohio The Needle and the Damage Done Southern Man Old Man On the Way Home (acoustic version at Massey Hall) Cowgirl in the Sand (acoustic at Massey Hall or 4 Way Street) Down by the River (CSNY version is good but solo features more Neil) Old Laughing Lady (Always a haunting ballad that I love) Helpless (With the Band on "The last Waltz) I hate to put a last one so here are some others that are fun and/or always appealed to me: Live Rust: Cortez the Killer, When You Dance, Sedan Delivery (For grins) Sugar Mountain (First song I learned to Play and sound right) Expecting to Fly, Campaigner and Long May You Run
hoopboy Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Not a huge Neil Young fan, but I do like Old Man.
titletownclown Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 This is like asking to list Jim Schue's :cool:top ten faults. There are so many it's hard to narrow a list down to ten, but I'll give it a shot. Down by the River Like a Hurricane Such a Woman (one of the most underrated N.Y. tunes of all-time imo) Hey Hey, My My Keep on Rockin in the Free World Ohio Needle and the Damage Done A Man Needs a Maid Cortez, the Killer Powderfinger Heart of Gold Old Man Helpless couldn't keep it under 13. A top 25 for one of the greatest ever would be much easier for me.

Next thing I know, I'm approaching 20 tunes. :ohbrother: I listed 13 but I could easily interchange many many songs with those I listed. Neil's just too prolific a songwriter to compose a top ten imo.
DADDY CAT Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Gotta go with titletownclown. His list pretty much sums it up....
