Throwing the helmet was weak but him going down was not that big of a deal since all the pitcher did , besides run backwards, was use Youk's momentum to take him down. I applaud him for charging. If the Tigers want to use the Sox as target practice someone has to sack up and make a statement. Throw 90 MPH fastballs from 60' at my back all day, as long as I get one shot to your face with a helmet from 20'. Youk should've come out swinging. What he did was a weak attempt. I honestly don't have that much of a problem with him charging. I do think Cabrera had a bigger gripe though. He was hit in the front of his body twice in two days. Plus, I really don't like Youk at all. Never have.

The helmet hit just barely above belt level, and the pitcher already had his hands up to defend himself. The ball that Porcello threw came much closer to Youkilis head than the helmet did to his. If you're genuine in your offer I'd be glad to trade you fastballs for helmets in the same situation as last night--sounds like fun. :lol: I'd say the batter would get the worse end of that deal every time. So in essence what you're saying is Youkilis is solely at fault basically because you don't like him--got it.

August 12, 200917 yr Youk is a Cincy product, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't know him, but I know his brother and father. They seem like nice enough guys. My Dad was in Mr. Youk's office last year and met Kevin. He said that he was very nice and respectful. I work w/ one of his better friends who played w/ him at Midland and Sycamore. He said that he wasn't a "bigleaguing" kind of guy. I'll take their opinion.

August 12, 200917 yr Pitcher was no Nolan Ryan, but he got the job done. I was expecting something like Ryan and Ventura. That didn't seem all that much to me...Youk charged, threw his helmet, then the pitcher used the momentum to execute a textbook hip toss...Brett Hart would be proud.

Youkilis did not appeal and is serving his suspension right now. He said that he didn't regret taking up for himself but was sorry that he set a bad example for young players. Porcello, however maintains that he wasn't trying to hit Martinez or Youkilis...... Call it what it was....a beanball war. Porcello knew what he was doing and Youkilis knew what he was doing. Both players deserved to be suspended.
