Cobb's pulled this stunt several times... I'm sure he will get what he wants from the administration and be back on the side lines for the first game...

They do have a new superintendent, Teresa Wallace, who came from Lincoln County. And the Lincoln folks can tell you that she's let coaches walk before. I'm not sure if Cobb's back or not.

I don't really want to discuss the situation any further but it has nothing to do with taking another job.

AJ- I was told Cobb went in with a "this is going to happen or I am gone" thing. The new super called his bluff and so he is. That right??

That is NOT what happened. He didn't even talk to her. She was out of town.

Not for certain but the news tonight is that Robbie Lucas told the team that he is the new head football coach.

Lucas coached for two seasons at Lincoln County (2002-03) after coming from Somerset. He compiled a 4-16 record and then returned to the Jumpers' staff.

I wish coach Cobb luck, class guy in my dealing, good coach too.

No, she wasn't even in town yesterday. That's not at all how it happened but there are still a lot of things going on and I really don't want to say anything else right now. The kids have got a scrimmage on Friday and they have enough to worry about right now other than what's being said on a message board. They need to rally around whoever is their coach right now and focus on getting ready for Knox Central next week. This will all work itself out one way or the other.

I know I speak only for myself in the following matters

1) I hate to see Coach go, but after talking to him I understand his feelings.

2) If true (that he is the new coach) I am very happy for Coach Lucas, and wish him nothing but success.

3) This is not a STUNT as my cross town friends keep calling it. Coach feels he is doing what is best for everyone.

4) The most important thing is that the boys come together and don't let outsiders tear them apart.

As Coach Cobb told many of the boys, "If this is the worst thing that happens in their life, then they will have lived a cherished life."

I have nothing but good feeling towards coach for the time my son has played for him. He has treated parents and players with respect in every dealing I have had with him. I wish he and Sarah the best.

No need to get bent out of shape, WM. Just asking a question based off what I was told. Thanks AJ for clearing it up. Good luck friday.

Good luck to Coach Cobb!

Is the Lucas promotion considered an interim title, or will he become the head coach for the forseeable future?

Good luck to Coach Lucas and the Briar Jumpers.

Coach Lucas is our Head Coach, and has promised to do the best job he can and to take care of our boys. As far as I'm concerned this closes this chapter and were ready to start playing some ball.

Is the Lucas promotion considered an interim title, or will he become the head coach for the forseeable future?

He is the interim head coach for this season. After the season applications will be taken. Coach Lucas will be considered as well if he is interested in the postion beyond this season.

The team had their best day of practice so far today and seem to be getting behind Coach Lucas very well. I want to congratulate Coach Lucas and hope all Jumper fans get behind him and our boys. :thumb:

You know, after reading the article in the paper and seeing the posts, I ony have this to say:

Why Coach Cobb left is not important to me, he let his team down. How can any other school take a chance on him doing the same thing to them, this should close the book on his coaching too.

Good Luck to the young men who have taken on the task of representing their high school and community, may you have the season that every player dreams about.
