TheDeuce Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I'm hearing stuff from all parts of the city about major flash flooding that is occuring. There's about 8" of water in my front lawn, and our drainage ditch that is about 3 and a half feet deep is overflowing. The Weather Channel reported over one inch of rain in 21 minutes fell here last hour. I'll post more updates if I can, or if my cable comes back on.
jvdfc Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Wow! Be careful and stay safe. Can you get out if you need too ?
Jim Schue Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 They've got channel 41 on here at work, and the station's back parking lot is inundated.
TheDeuce Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Supposedly I-65 is shut down at Arthur Street. UofL's campus area and most of downtown are a nightmare... I can't even get to work.
ScarHeel Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Jeffersonville/Clarksville area of Southern Indiana is bad also. Too bad I have to stay in school until 1:20 today. Hopefully I can still make it back to Eastern Boulavard without any complications...
TheDeuce Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Status message was sent out from UofL saying if you're not on campus, don't come.
LRCW Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Sorry to hear that Deuce. Can you take some pictures, and post them?
gold sunrise Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Sorry to hear that Deuce. Can you take some pictures, and post them? Same here, also would love to see pictures. All you BGP'er stay safe.
TheDeuce Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Sorry to hear that Deuce. Can you take some pictures, and post them? There's nothing to see out my way now... I live about 15 minutes from campus, but my buddy that lives down there says he's never seen so much water...
THEGREENDANDY Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Next line should be in Louisville between 2:00 and 2:30pm. This is not looking good.
Birdsfan Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 There is massive street flooding all over Louisville. The Weather Channel is reporting from the area on a continuing basis. They had 4-6" in just an hour! Up here in NKY, we're getting it too. In fact, we're going to be under an unbroken line of storms for most of the day. We may start seeing problems similar to what Louisville is seeing.
TheDeuce Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 There is a very low underpass on campus, and someone from the Physical Plant said there is 20 feet of water...
Jim Schue Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 And here in Bardstown, just down the road from L'ville, we have had dark, threatening skies all day, but no rain.
Getslow Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 MSD is reporting that this morning's storm dumped 6 inches of water in 75 minutes. The drainage systems just couldn't handle that much water that quickly. Louisville Free Public Library is already saying upwards of 10,000 books destroyed by the water at the Main Branch at 4th and York. The Watterson is closed between Southern Parkway and Taylor Boulevard.
