July 14, 200917 yr No harm, no foul. We all have opinions and this is the perfect venue for expressing them. But I am beginning to wonder about the veracity of some of the rumors going around about this incident, particularly the arrest and firearms claims. I have to think an arrest would have already become public knowledge. It's hard to keep news like this from the Courier-Journal and Herald Leader. They generally smell out everything that's anything with UK athletics. In addition, if the firearms claims were true, someone would be in jail by now. You have to assume that if this were true, the Uk and Lexington police would be on it, big time. With firearms involved, it would be given highest priority.

July 14, 200917 yr I hope "no news is good news" applies in this case. Me, too. What was once a very promising season could take a 2nd major hit, if this is true. UK does not have the depth to take hits like this and keep on going.

Chip says he can't cover the story because he is on furlough and Brett Dawson says to notr even ask him. What other journalists are on vacation or furlough? Someone has to have some info somewhere. The longer it goes on unreported, it kind of makes you wonder just how true the rumors are.

Had a similar deal with the radio station as they suspended all part time hours in my department for the first 4 months of the year. Luckily it's a slow period for me there anyway and I had plenty of other sources of income. Turns out I was a little ahead of the curve in shifting busy seasons with the demand for what I was doing...
July 15, 200917 yr for behavior? The furloughs are basically a paycut with added vacation. IMO, a furlough is better than a straight paycut. Typically, a company will calculate how many hours/days equates to a percentage cut in pay and force an employee to take those number of hours/days off without pay. Many companies and states are enforcing this with their employees to save money and jobs.
July 15, 200917 yr While those guys are out of the office, it doesn't mean there's nobody minding the store. True, I like both of them a lot, but I am kind of biased. I attended UK at the same time as both of them. I will say that I know someone is minding the store, but when you take your UK Football writer off of the case, you lose a lot of the story. I am sure Chip has more trust and "sources" involved with UK football than probably any writer in this state. You won't find many journalists who have the access to UK football like Chip does. And when it comes to finding stories I trust Chip and Brett more so than any other journalists. Plus, I am biased.....:sssh::idunno:
