Some may say my opinion is slightly biased. :lol: I would say most definitely. But, it depends on the criteria you're using to define the "best": history, recent successes, sustained successes, state championships, overall wins, head-to-head records, etc. But, I'll stick with "yes" as the answer to your question.

While St.X does have the edge on us head to head, I can be pretty content knowing that we sit at 19 and are responsible for denying them a title in 03, 05, 07, and 08.

Much to my chagrin, you are correct in what you say, Pep. There definitely has been an evil witch doctor somewhere sticking pins into a stuffed tiger at playoff time over the past few years. I'm ready to reconvene a court of Pilgrims at Salem. :taz:

It's not an evil witch doctor, it's just called getting out coached!

I know that when SI named Trinity #1 in 2006 (see thread dated 8-24-06 in the football forum), that I felt it was a nice honor. I feel the same way for X. It's a nice accomplishment and congrats.

As much of a Rock fan as I am, there's no way I would dispute the ranking. St. X rules overall. One reason is simply the number years they've been in existance, one is swimming, one is tennis, one is cross country, and then there's football. They are a very successful athletic program overall.

 

I don't have a dog in this fight,but it is nice to see someone can show some sportsmanship,that should be taught first in any athletic program. Congrats St.X

Congrats as well. I agree with RM and others. It clearly has to be for the overall Sports/Atheletic Programs. No question as to their superiority in many other sports. The longevity of the School also has to play a part.

I'd trade the SI honor for a couple state football titles.

I think Lex Cath has been more consistent in every sport.. They have been in the top 5 in basketball and baseball, along with always having a pretty strong football and a never fading soccer.

Are you kidding me? St.X won 4 of the 10 state titles,(including never fading soccer) this year,finished 2nd in 2 others, and a semi finals in football. Lex. Cath did not win a single state title.I will give you that the Knight's have a better basketball program and have been tough in baseball but's that's is 2 sports, in the other 8 it is not close. Lex. Cath. highest finish was 10th in tennis, 16th in track, 17th in swimming, 18th in cross country and did not qualify for state in golf, soccer, wrestling.
