c) competitive with or d) fell short in comparison to St.Xaviers sports program in 2008-2009?

IMO, St. Xavier is the end/all be/all in total athletic programs in KY....that's an awesome thing. I hope we get to their level, and I mean that sincerely.

We'll let you use your crutches in Dec. too, IF you make it, remember only a few Sophmores make a difference at the Varsity level, not a team full of the them.

I really think IMVHO that most Rock supporters would choose one of the first

three choices because of the result in December.

I concede St.X's edge in the overall programs, given their sustained excellence in a number of sports I don't see how any rational individual can say otherwise.

To say that Highlands puts all their eggs in the football basket might be an understatement. My guess is that there are an awfully lot of people in Ft. Thomas that really don't care that Cov. Cath. beats up on Highlands in basketball and 6 or 7 sports that no fans other than parents atttend.

 

Which might be an intersting question:

 

If you could choose one sport to dominate your rival in, but then in return they would dominate you in all others, would you choose to do that?

 

Interesting question, and an auspicious first post.:thumb: I know a LOT of folks here in Mason County, for example, that would take a state basketball championship and gladly go 0-for-the-season in everything else. However, there is nothing approaching a T-X or even a HHS-CCHS rivalry in any sport, so I must say "State championship" instead of "dominate your rival".

Congrats to the Tigers. Without beating a dead horse, overall, I think SI is correct. Like everyone, I would like those States in FB, but they didn't happen, and T got them. I do think that over the past3 or 4 years that T has made great strides in other programs, and are more than competetive, as they should be.

BTW, has any one else had FOUR National Merit starters on any of their teams like the 2005 FB Tigers?

I agree that St. X does have the overall edge, but it is a matter of the facilities as much as anything else. In two of the four sports X won State in there is a clear edge in facilities. X has a very nice on campus tennis complex and pool, compared to the public park and Mary T. center that Trinity can provide. All things being equal X would not have the dominant programs that are residing on Poplar Level. It does go back to the history of the school, Trinity does not have the land or the funds to build similar facilities on campus. If and when the facility gap is closed I believe that the dominance of those programs will become more cyclical, similar to the football programs and other sports. I am not attepting to take away from the acomplishments, but I think things should be put in perspective. Students will naturally gravitate to the facilities that benifit them the most.

Maybe this is why St. X threw up a billboard about 2 stoplights away from the Trinity football stadium. :lol:
