July 6, 200917 yr PG- Rondo SG- Allen SF- Pierce PF- Wallace C- Garnett Not a bad lineup if they are all healthy! Not to mention Big Baby Davis, Eddie House, Mikki Moore and Kendrick Perkins off the bench
July 6, 200917 yr PG- Rondo SG- Allen SF- Pierce PF- Wallace C- Garnett Not a bad lineup if they are all healthy! Age/injuries could definatly kill this group but IF healthy that is an All Star starting group!
July 6, 200917 yr I dk if it really adds all that much to this team but we shall see. It's a good move for sure.

July 6, 200917 yr Here's what Wallace adds to the Celtics: PPG: 15.0, RPG: 6.9, 47.1% FG, 34.2% 3PFG Want proof that the NBA is more about reputation and stardom than on the court performance. The C's add that line and are considered championship front-runners again. The Eastern Conference Champion Magic add 23.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 44.7 FG%, and 37.6 3P% and the move is considered a "bad fit". The Spurs (champions 4 times in the last 10 years) add 17.7 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 46.9 FG%, 35.3 3P% and aren't being touted anywhere near the Celtics. Don't get me wrong, I like Rasheed and even the Celtics. But in terms of keeping up with the Lakers, Magic, Spurs, or Cavs, I think this move doesn't come close.

If Garnett is healthy this past season, you don't mention the Magic IMO. So, with that logic, you add Rasheed and KG. I think that trumps any moves that the Magic made, not to mention you subtract Hedo's #'s. Edited July 6, 200917 yr by spindoc

I think that trumps any moves that the Magic made, not to mention you subtract Hedo's #'s. You said exactly what I was thinking. The Celtics have the best team in the league (well maybe tied with the Lakers), they added a piece that they needed, a tall stretch the floor big man. The Magic made a move that may be an improvement, but is a slight one considering they lost Turk. I think they lost a step by subbing an older VC for Turk and Courtney Lee, just based on what they do. I have touted the Spurs as a potential title contender.
July 6, 200917 yr There is no doubt that KG is far and away better than the rest of them. I just don't see 'Sheed as a marquee player anymore. He averaged 12 PPG last year.

July 6, 200917 yr Sheed may be getting up there in age, but when he WANTS to play, he is a very effective player and great defensively. Tim Duncan has always said he is one of the more difficult match-up for him in the league.
July 6, 200917 yr Rasheed has diminished, but VC and Jefferson haven't. Yeah right. No doubt they've all lost a step, but there is no getting around the facts that A) 'Sheed's career numbers are worse than either of them B) 'Sheed's numbers went down more than any of VC or Jeff's numbers last year compared to their respective careers and C) 'Sheed is 3 years older than VC and 6 years old than RJ

Tim Duncan has always said he is one of the more difficult match-up for him in the league. True (especially in regards to Duncan- I feel like I've heard that and seen them play a few times). I hope Sheed can contribute to the C's this year

I'm just curious, but which of those teams also lost 16.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.9 apg. San Antonio and Boston both added a significant piece...Orlando merely replaced one.

True in regards to Orlando losing Hedo (although I'd take VC over him, it's still a solid player lost). All I'm saying is that VC, Jefferson, Artest, and Shaq are all in a whole seperate league from Rasheed. Perhaps the point is most accurate in regards to Richard Jefferson and Rasheed. It's like TD in San Antonio, though- without KG, it is all pretty insignificant.
