July 1, 200917 yr At least the guy isn't a total homer ... he does, after all, bring up the defense question and the SEC's two bowl wins over the Big 12 last year. The Bg 12 still has a way to go to catch the SEC, and I doubt it will happen this year.

OU and Texas are perrenial powers and other than that the rest of the Big 12 ebb and flow. USC is a powerhouse but that doesn't make the PAC-10 on par with the SEC. I am glad there is some parity in football but the SEC is the best league hands down.

I don't know that they necessarily play better football than the rest of the country, they simply out athlete everyone. SEC does have great coaching as well, so they are just tough to beat.

SEC has NFL caliber athletes all over the field. Only a handful of other schools in America match SEC athleticism on a consistent basis. One is USC, the other two (FSU, Miami) aren't really good enough to touch a UF or Bama right now. As good as Oklahoma, Texas, OSU, and others are they just really cannot matchup with SEC elite athletically most years. Look at how good OSU's BCS teams were, but they really had no shot because of the speed and athleticism advantage. You just don't see too many Percy Harvin's, Julio Jones', or the like in other conferences. Teams in the Big 10 or Big 12 or others may have one guy such as a Maclin or a Teddy Ginn, but they do not have a fleet full of them. Speed is the most important attribute that you can have physically in college football. Remember the WVU upset over Oklahoma? Pat White, Steve Slaton and Noel Devine provided the kind of electric speed that teams like LSU have. The Sooners just didn't have it.
July 4, 200917 yr SEC has speed all over the field at all positions. USC is really the only other team tha has the team speed of the SEC teams. Agree with other Quotes on this thread speed is the difference between the good and the real good teams.
