Turk was. Carter will have to settle for 16 PPG, 12 shots and probably Lewis taking the big shots if they are smart though Carter is very clutch. Here's some other #'s. These are career #'s. Player 1- 27.2 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 6.2 APG, 2.2 SPG, 10 time NBA All Star. Player 2- 22.2 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 4.7 APG, 7 Time NBA All-star. Those players look great in the stat column but neither player has ever held the championship trophy, and have only won a handful of playoff series combined. I'm sure you guys can figure out who they are. Why would he not be? He's getting towards the end of his career and all he is wanting is a title. He's not worried all about scoring like he once was and Carter is still/can be just as clutch as Lewis.

UFMF, as a Magic Guys what do you think about replacing Turkoglu with Carter? Why would he not be? He's getting towards the end of his career and all he is wanting is a title. He's not worried all about scoring like he once was and Carter is still/can be just as clutch as Lewis. Carter is very clutch. I don't see him creating shots for others the way that Turk did in the playoffs. They will become more of an Isolation team between him, Howard and Nelson. Carter cannot beat you by himself, Howard as the Lakers proved can be contained if you can body up on him, and Nelson averages 16 and 5, good but not Elite. I'm not debating that Carter isn't still a good player, I'm just saying that I don't know how well he fits.

June 27, 200917 yr I'd be very, very, very surprised if Orlando retains Turkoglu now. We'll see, but I think they take a step back with this off-season.
June 27, 200917 yr Interestingly enough, I thought about suggesting this yesterday, but ESPN is saying that the Magic will go after Rasheed Wallace or Brandon Bass. Wallace is ideal. He is a good enough shooter to space the floor, yet tough enough to guard players in the post. Either starting or coming off the bench, he would be a great pick up. Bass I'm not sold on, he would have much better situations elsewhere.

June 27, 200917 yr Do the people who are saying this is a bad deal understand that they tried to negotiate a deal w/ Turk but he turned them down telling them he was going to become a free agent? So they turned their 6th best player and a useless backup PG into a guy that is athletic and can easily score at least 18 ppg and that's supposed to be bad for them?
June 28, 200917 yr I cannot believe people are actually arguing Turkoglu or Carter. Are there that many people who do not like him because he was a Tar-Heel? Just wondering, I am as big as Cats fan as you will meet, and I can be acused of hating numerous players based on their college choices. But do you guys honestly and really feel Carter isn't good or hasn't been good, or do you just not like him because he wore powder blue?

Defensively, the Lakers was a better team and adding Carter does not make the Magics any better defensively but rather probably weakens them. They are not a better rebounding team with Carter and I am not convinced that adding Carter over Hedo makes them better 1/2 court offensively.

Nelson Carter Lewis Sheed Dwight Looks like one of the best lineups in the NBA to me, and they wont rely on the three so much to win games. I remember Malone and Payton being added to a Lakers lineup and everyone handing them a trophy. They did not win one. Who in that lineup is going to play defensive night in and night out or even on the great scale of the playoffs. LeBron, Wade, Pierce, there is no one in that lineup to stop them, stop Rondo. Plus, there is not enough basketballs to go around on that team. Howard complained this playoffs about not enough touches and you are going to add Sheed AND Carter. Team chemistry will become like this year's Pistons when AI got added to the team.

If he comes back I'm guessing it will be for far less than they offered him originally. So he's not coming back more than likely. They replaced his numbers by trading their 6th and 7th best players.
