The team is chosen by a committee. Even when I was the head coach and also when our 2003 team was loaded we/I did not get everyone on the team from Mason that was nominated and recommended. This includes both Tolle and Thompson.

 

I was a member of the committee in 03 and 04. I know for a fact that the head coach or individual coach does not always get every player he wants.

 

Please apply the million dollars to our turf project. With the extra we will get to work on an indoor facility.

This is not and attack or issue with you this is an attack on a system that is flaued if a player is a finalist for Mr. Football or a all-state 1st or 2nd team player he should make the squad before someone who is not ,coachs nominate the players for the game they also vote on all-state and Mr. Football how could there be so much difference in the two situations something is wrong,even the game director says that some of the best players do not make the game and I hope Mason county gets the turf it is long overdue.

That's interesting because if I'm not mistaken, the two players named MVPs in the game were no better than All-State honorable mention.

To their credit, the 2005 committee was probably right and I was wrong in the few disagreements we did have. The head coach is part of the committee but it is not a rubber stamp situation. That team beat Tennessee 2 Td's which had 8 Vol signees. Hard to argue with that kind of success.

I have no problem with how the team is selected and do not think an AP list of All-Staters is the solution.

 

I understand why they dont play, but I sure would like to see a true All-Star game with the original list.

Surely not at the site of the most praised stadiums in the US...

What's your beef with Western? We get it. You don't like games being played at WKU and you don't like the current all-star format. Why is that?

WKU is a nicer, better venue than Papa John's...end of story. It's better for the All Star game and will be better for the State Championships. And you know what, Highlands and one of the big two will probably adjust just fine to playing there just like they did when it moved to Louisville. And all the mommas and daddies will be just fine remembering how they won it in 20-- down there in Bowling Green and how exciting it was to run out in front of those people and win a ring. I won a ring in old Cardinal Stadium which is a total dump...but you know what, I'll always remember that dump fondly...and not have a bit of jealousy that some kids winning one at PJ's or LT Smith.

 

On the All Star game, the East again looked slow and out gunned at every turn. If not for the Fran Takenton-like play of the East’s QB the East would have finished with 2 net yards.

Are we not allowed to have preferences? Just do not care for Bowling Green or the change of location for the State games, plus I'm an EKU alumni. LOL

The problem was that everything was flooded from the night before and they were letting things dry out. WKU is defenitly better than PJS can't wait for the football finals next year.
