June 2, 200917 yr Last night Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter got his 2600th base hit. Along with this he was put into a group of only 3 other in MLB history in that in his 15th year Jeter has achieved 2,600 hits, 200 hr's and 1,000 rbi's! This puts Jeter in yet another elite group of MLB players with these numbers within 15 years. Derek Jeter (1995-09) Hank Aaron ( 1954-68) Stan Musial (1941-56) Al Simmons (1924-38) Jeter is also #2 on the N.Y. Yankee list for most base hits and trails only the great Lou Gehrig (2,721). Jeter at (2,600) will imo no doubt pass Gehrig and become the all time Yankee hit leader. In a day of controversy in MLB (along with all pro sports) Derek Jeter is imo one class act both on and of the field. Jeter deserves any and all achievements and praise that he has in his carrer. He wll go down as one of the greatest Yankees of all time and when ones gets to thinking and looking at that list (Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Berra, Mantle, Maris, etc.) that goes on and on then that is a statement. Jeter imo will not only br remembered as one of the greatest Yankees but one of the greatest MLB players of all time.
June 2, 200917 yr I'll always remember Derek Jeter for something else. :irked::irked: Dating Lila from Friday Night Lights?
June 2, 200917 yr Not drafting him would be my guess. To be more specific, drafting Chad Mottola one spot ahead of Jeter.
June 2, 200917 yr Jeter imo will not only br remembered as one of the greatest Yankees but one of the greatest MLB players of all time.Maybe one of the greatest Yankees, and a Hall of Famer, but I don't know about "one of the greatest MLB players of all time."

June 3, 200917 yr Author Tonight Derek Jeter scores his 1,500 run in the Yanks game with Texas (a 12-3 win btw). This puts Derek Jeter in another elite class.............. NEW YORK -- When Derek Jeter crossed home plate in the fourth inning of the Yankees' 12-3 win on Tuesday night, the New York captain made history. Jeter's run, which was charged to Rangers starter Vicente Padilla, marked the 1,500th run scored of his career. Jeter is just the fourth active player to reach the milestone, joining Seattle's Ken Griffey Jr., the Mets' Gary Sheffield and teammate Alex Rodriguez. The milestone also puts Jeter among an elite trio of Yankees legends. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Mickey Mantle all scored 1,500 runs while in pinstripes http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090602&content_id=5108932&vkey=news_nyy&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy&partnerId=rss_nyy
