Who do you think has the toughest draw?

Ryle and NCC

Who do you think has the toughest draw?

I think Ryle caught a bad break being in the same bracket as CCH. Hard to dispute that Ryle is the #2 team right now in NKY. Ryle vs. NCC is a very tough matchup (for both teams) and I would have preferred to see them on the other side of the bracket from the #1 team. Just the way things sometimes work out with a blind draw.

Personally, I'd be very surprised if Isler isn't thrown in the second round game. Knowing from firsthand experience, there is nothing worse than getting caught holding back quality pitching because you're looking too far past your next round opponent, especially a quality opponent such as Ryle or NCC. You can be pretty much assured that having Nutini to throw in the championship game on Wednesday still puts them in a very enviable spot, as no one else would have that quality level of pitching to throw. Just me, but I think you need to be very careful about looking too far ahead and worry about the game you're in.

Rule 13

Wow!! In the other thread about the 9th Region tourney being set, I predicted this exact draw.:notworthy:

Talk about a picture perfect situation for CovCath...they could not have dreamed about a better draw. Along with being a great team you have to sometimes you have to get the all the right breaks during a season.

Sorry...got redundant.:idunno:

No question.

Will NCC throw Connor and Ryle throw Etscheid? Or do both teams save their aces in hopes they can get by the first round game and have a good chance at knocking CCH off with ther best pitcher?

Relates back to do you throw your ace to advance or do you play to win the tournament and try to save some pitching?

I don't know if Krumps has a favorite liquor but if he does I have no doubt he's sipping it tonight after seeing this draw.

There only advantage of being on the other side is they might have a chance to make it to finals; however, they would still need to beat CCH and that's not gonna happen.

I am sure it will be Connor vs. Etscheid. Can't win the second if they don't make it past the first.

Wow, must be nice to be so sure of yourself. Perhaps they should just cancel the tournament and crown CCH champs now. It would save everyone of the inconvenience of having to play such meaningless games.

Of the 4 times Ryle played CCH this year, the scores of 3 of the games were 2-1, 2-1, and 4-2. I'd say Ryle has a chance . . . .

Actually, I would submit that CCH caught a small bad break in the draw. They are obviously the clearcut #1 seed and, had it been seeded bracketing, should have been matched up against #8 seed St. Henry anyways. But Ryle and NCC are the obvious #2 and #3 seeds (you can debate the which one is #2) and would have been on the other side of the bracket and CCH would not have met either one until the finals. If this had happened, I think it's a pretty safe bet they hold back Isler until the championship game, but that becomes a much bigger risk to do so now.

Not that it matters, but if it had been a seeded tourney, it probably would have looked something like:

#1 CCH vs. #8 St. H

#4/5 Conner vs. #4/5 Dixie

#2 Ryle vs. #7 HHS

#3 NCC vs. #6 BHS

Classic draw situation where one team gets to the finals that really was not expected to be there. I believe that the Dixie/Conner winner gets to the finals. Good luck to all teams and to all of the young men who have worked so hard to get to this point. Also, I believe it is justice for CovCath to draw the team with the worst record in the field. The tourney is CovCath's to win, but they will feel an awful lot of pressure if someone takes them into the 6th or 7th inning and the game is tight.
