9th Region Draw

Featured Replies

The 4-2 win was against Dovovan, on 4-3 with Isler on the hump

The 1st 2-1 win was against Etscheid, on 4-8 with Nutini on the hump

The 17-7 win was against Donovan on 4-28 and he threw just one inning as he was knocked out in the first inning, while CovCath threw Gerwe, Klein and Warning.

The 2nd 2-1 win was against Etscheid, on 5-15 with Isler again on the hump.

You can't play on Tuesday if you don't win on Monday and if NCC throws Conner like I think they will, Ryle has to throw Etscheid or take a chance on being left at the gate.

Wow, must be nice to be so sure of yourself. Perhaps they should just cancel the tournament and crown CCH champs now. It would save everyone of the inconvenience of having to play such meaningless games.

Of the 4 times Ryle played CCH this year, the scores of 3 of the games were 2-1, 2-1, and 4-2. I'd say Ryle has a chance . . . .

I never said they were meaningless games but you are 0 and 4 against them. You were complaining about the seeding. I just stated you'd have to play them at one point or another, might as well be the second round. And yes, this year CCH is by far the hands down favorite.

CovCath vs HHS, NCC, Ryle, Conner, Beechwood, St. Henry and Dixie is 14-1 and CovCath has out scored the above teams by a combined score of 127-38. The difference in what they have scored and what they given up, is an unbelievable 89 runs.

And right now all of that means NOTHING.

I think everyone agrees CCH is the clear cut favorite to win the region. This senior class is one of the most talented classes in a while and for them to not win the region after the year they've had would be considered a total disaster.

Actually, I would submit that CCH caught a small bad break in the draw. They are obviously the clearcut #1 seed and, had it been seeded bracketing, should have been matched up against #8 seed St. Henry anyways. But Ryle and NCC are the obvious #2 and #3 seeds (you can debate the which one is #2) and would have been on the other side of the bracket and CCH would not have met either one until the finals. If this had happened, I think it's a pretty safe bet they hold back Isler until the championship game, but that becomes a much bigger risk to do so now.

Not that it matters, but if it had been a seeded tourney, it probably would have looked something like:

#1 CCH vs. #8 St. H

#4/5 Conner vs. #4/5 Dixie

#2 Ryle vs. #7 HHS

#3 NCC vs. #6 BHS

Coop that's impossible since you can't have two teams from the same district on the same side of the bracket.

I believe when you have a seeded tournament the district stuff goes out the window.

NCC and Ryle throw their aces in 1st round. CovCath lets them beat each other up, but throws Isler to beat NCC. Maybe they get an early lead and pull him after 2 innings to have him for the finals. I think Beechwood has the best draw. They beat Highlands without having to use Smith. Conner and Dixie will be a battle, but the winner will be depleted. Smith and Beechwood beat Dixie. CovCath over Beechwood convincingly in the finals.

And right now all of that means NOTHING.

Freedom owner Clint Brown reiterated yesterday that metal spikes are not allowed.

Who do you think has the toughest draw?

New Cath and Ryle without a doubt. Cov Cath lucky that St. Henry and New Cath positions were not flip flopped. Coach Krumps would figure it out as always.

Cov Cath will start Krumme game one, Isler game two, and Nutini game three.

End of story and 9th region tournament is ours. I do not see Cv Cath getting tested. We will run rule St. Henry, shut out winner of Ryle/New Cath; and beat whoever comes out of the other bracket.:thumb::thumb:

Wasn't this the feeling last year? :thumb:

I was just throwing out a "what if" scenario, not that it really matters since they'll never go to a seeded tournament anyways. My point is that it's just kind of a shame that the #1, #2, and #3 seeds are on the same side of the bracket. Such is life. I know there are people that will come up with the "you have to beat the best if you want to be the best" mantra, but that doesn't apply quite as well in baseball as it does in basketball, football, etc... because one player (pitcher) in baseball can change the entire complexion of a team.

At the end of the day, someone is going to have to step up big time if they want to knock off CCH. Probably not all that likely, but certainly not impossible either.

I don't think Dixie's pitching will be "depleted" after playing just one game. They have some quality throwers on that staff. If Beechwood gets by HHS - and that's hardly a gaurantee without using Smith - I think Dixie vs. BHS would be a good game. While Dixie may struggle to score runs, so will BHS. They are not a strong hitting team.

But if Sainola is on the hump and he is on, I don't see Beechwood scoring a run off of him, I can't say the same thing for Beechwood if they don't pitch Smith. Neither Beechwood nor Highlands are very good hitting teams, but HHS will have a better chance of scoring a run off of Bertke than Beechwood will have of scoring a run off either Sainola or Head.

If Smith goes, chalk up a W for Bwood if not, HHS will move on!

To play on Tuesday, you have to win on Monday.
