May 21, 200917 yr My Pastor, who is a biologist, gave a sermon last sunday with part of this discussion. He gave this phrase(paraphrased below), which I and my wife(a Scientist) totally think can help anyone who struggles trying to reconcile. You belive the Theory of Evolution. You belive in God. Evolutionary theory, and Science in general, are not a construct of faith. They are based on empiricism, so you don't belive in science, or biology, ect. Our faith is a different construct, in which we belive beyond empiricism- we belive beyond what we can see, that's why it's called faith. Because faith and science are to totally different constructs, there is no reason to have them contradict each other.

Then what space does God possess? How can God be in all places if God looks physically like us?? I assumed "in God's image" meant a being capable of thought and love.

I guess you could take it to mean whatever you like. That is basically why there are so many different denominations out there. Everyone interrupts things differently. But thanks for trying to set me straight.

It does not say physical image, it does not say appearance. I think my reading can be as literal as yours. Not trying to set you straight, asking questions.

I think you'd have a hard time in any denomination with an interpretation of Genesis 1 as an actual physical resemblance to God. The imageo dei of humanity is that we have a reflection/part of God imparted into us by our Creator (God). It means we are a part of God in the same way or illustration that my children resemble me but are not me. We reflect the image of God in our core as a living creation that God endowed for relationship with Himself. It does not mean that God looks like us but that we, at our best, look a little like God.

May 25, 200917 yr I have never understood the insistance to separate science from religion. I have never, EVER had any religious instruction that contradicted science. In fact, the science is where so many of my religous beliefs are confirmed. (ie: life begins at conception) :thumb: Right on the money
