May 9, 200917 yr Got some flooding here in Floyd County... My home escaped it, but it was heartbreaking driving down the road and seeing the water surrounding homes.
May 9, 200917 yr Some flooding in Owsley County too. The community of Lerose was hit pretty hard when Meadow Creek overran it's banks and got into some homes, as well as washing away some bridges. We had nearly 4 inches of rain in a very short time span.
May 9, 200917 yr Author It was a confirmed F-2 tornado that hit yesterday. There are two confirmed deaths. They both were in a trailer that was hit by the tornado.
May 9, 200917 yr There have been reports of mudslides along the Big Sandy River. All of our tracks running from Ashland to Pikeville are shut down as of now, with no report as to when train traffic will be moving again.

May 10, 200917 yr I hope he is ok. I've heard of some injuries in that area. He and his family are safe, but it destroyed his home. That entire subdivsion looks like a war zone. They were people going in there and stealing stuff out of these peoples homes. I went over there to help him today and they have National Guard checking IDs to keep people out from stealing.
May 10, 200917 yr This cell passed over Danville and I was really nervous for about 10 minutes. I was parked in a restaurant parking lot when this storm passed. My car was swaying from side-to-side and I would estimate the winds blowing about 50-60 miles per hour. There was just a moment when I thought to myself that a tornado could drop out of that cloud at any moment. Then, just a few miles down the road, it did.
May 10, 200917 yr Author I drove out hwy 52 today and it is truely amazing that more people didn't get killed.
May 11, 200917 yr My sister lives in the subdivision directly behind Kirksville Elem. and they have video and pics. It missed their house by 3 houses. If you have seen the pic of the RV agaist the house a lady was in it about to head camping. It truely is a miracle that more weren't killed.
