June 16, 200917 yr I think you can go without it if you want, but there is no reason to get an iphone if you aren't going to get the internet. My plan was to get the internet but I could get a family unlimited messaging for $30 which covered me and my wife then a family unlimited data for $10 per line. So for $50 my wife and I could both get data and messaging. But if we go with Iphones we are at $60 before with out any messaging.
June 17, 200917 yr No. If they find out you're using an Iphone without paying the $30 they'll charge you I'm pretty sure this is correct. You cannot use an iPhone without the $30 data package.
June 17, 200917 yr :thumb: Absolutely. You are never bored when you have an IPhone!Especially good when you have a layover in an airport.
June 17, 200917 yr There is a new update that's free. I was looking at it on Apple.com. I can't for the life of me figure out how to download it. Any ideas?

June 17, 200917 yr The bill is expensive for the iPhone...but it's worth it. Unless you're constantly on the go with work, can somebody please explain why it's worth it? I don't get all the craze for these phones.
June 17, 200917 yr Unless you're constantly on the go with work, can somebody please explain why it's worth it? I don't get all the craze for these phones. It would be worth it to me to have internet access wherever I go. I was on vacation a few weeks ago, and it killed me to have an inconsistent internet connection. I'd love to have the ability to update scores of high school games I'm at from the game, and check others as well, instead of employing my trusty "Call my wife and have her log on to BGP" method that drives her up the wall. Still, $129+ a month for a phone? I just can't make myself do it. I'm looking at the Palm Pre from Sprint, which only costs $99 a month, but that's still nearly double what I'm paying now for my phone. $700 extra a year adds up.

It would be nice to be able to get scores at the touch of a button. But at the cost of the device, plus the MRC, it's just not worth it IMO. I can think of a million other things that I can spend the money on. I just can't think of anything on the net that I would have to look at immediately. Everything can wait until I get home (or to work :sssh:).

June 17, 200917 yr Might not be worth it to you, but I'm not you. It is worth it to a lot of people. But why? That's what I've always wondered since this phone came out. Why do you need internet access at the drop of a dime? Why do you need to replace your current iPod with a $30/month one? Unless you travel constantly, have business needs, or is your only internet source, why does the casual person need one of these? I'm not directing these question directly at you. I've just been trying to grasp what the craze is about these phones. Like DragonFire mentioned, you're talking over $700 extra a year.

Why do you need TV? Why do you need internet at all? Why do we need an iPod in the first place? Why does anyone need NFL Sunday ticket? Why does anyone need high definition TV?
June 17, 200917 yr Unless you're constantly on the go with work, can somebody please explain why it's worth it? I don't get all the craze for these phones. It's just a luxury item. Nothing more nothing less. It's worth it to some people and not worth it to others. To me, the extra $30 a month was worth it to have the phone. I didn't think I'd use the internet that much. I basically liked the idea of having my cell phone and Ipod as one unit. I now use the internet on the phone daily. Some of the other perks like the GPS come in handy too.
