Orlando Magic guard Rafer Alston and Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher have each been suspended one game without pay for their roles in separate incidents on Wednesday night, Stu Jackson, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations announced on Thursday.

Jackson also announced that the Lakers' Kobe Bryant has been assessed a flagrant foul one for elbowing Houston's Ron Artest in the chest area in the fourth quarter.

No way should Kobe have been suspended. I think the right decisions were made all around. Fair or not, Kobe needs to do something like Dwight Howard did to get suspended. He threw an elbow in the heat of battling for a rebound.

I do think Kobe is sort of a dirty player. This is not the first time he has taken a shot at someone while battling for a rebound or jumping up for a ball. Seems like he has a history of having one of his arms going around and hitting someone when going for a ball. I will say this he is a smart dirty player though because he doesn't just do it right in the middle of the open like most guys, he does it while going for the ball so it doesn't look as bad or as obvious.

I love Kobe, no doubt about it, he is an absolute stud. The things he does on the court is sick, with his fade away jumpers and contested dunks... But he gets away with sooo much. He threw an elbow at Battier, and then once again threw one with Artest. Kobe deserves some calls, but he gets away with way too much...

 Howard's was after the play... he was looking at him and went right for his head. The two weren't near the same thing.

They were both in the course of the play....You say Kobe was going for a rebound and threw one, well Howard was tangled up with Dalembart and threw an elbow. The fact that Howard's hit him in the head, and Kobe's only landed on the chest is insignificant. The intent was the same on both.

That actually is significant. A "deliberate" elbow above the shoulders is grounds for an ejection and suspension. Howard also threw his after the play, Kobe's was during a box out, there is a difference.

Kobe deserved a 1 game suspension. He knew where his elbow was going when he threw it.

:thumb: Both Howard and Kobe threw the elbow with the intent to hurt. Both deserved an hour suspension.
