Alston, Fisher both suspended one game

Featured Replies

Sounds like a Kobe fan.....

I listened to many on the radio and on TV and not one said he should he suspended, not one. I'm well aware there are plenty of Kobe haters on here.

FWIW, I don't really think he should have been suspended. I don't like Kobe, make no mistake about that, but I think they got it right. It's just funny to me to see how these conversations go. You've got you, HT, and a few other Kobe fans, and it seems you're always pro Kobe no matter the situation. Same on the other side of the spectrum, where many seem to be against him and think he's in the wrong no matter what.

That actually is significant. A "deliberate" elbow above the shoulders is grounds for an ejection and suspension. Howard also threw his after the play, Kobe's was during a box out, there is a difference.

I agree that there is a huge difference in where you hit somebody with an elbow.

My question to you, OR, is how many elbows must Kobe throw before he gets penalized?

I realize the NBA is built around star power, but when is enough enough?

FWIW, I'm not a Kobe fan. Far from it. But he's a great player & I enjoy watching him play.

With that said, had Ron Artest been the one to hit Kobe, I think Artest would've been suspended...

This is exactly how I figured it would happen. I knew they would let Kobe get away with it. To me Kobes was just as bad as Fischers. I kind of liked little Fischer bringing it. I don't think he meant to hit him up under the chin though. I was thinking that somebody should try to push Artests buttons. He fell right into the trap. If I'm Hous I am VERY physical with Kobe the next game to try to push his button with one flagrent already on him.

I also thought Artest touched the official. Might be wrong but I though that might draw some more attention.

Kobe got away with his because it could have been an accident. I highly doubt it was, but IMO that's why he isn't suspended.

Fish and Alston had no chance. What were they thinking?

Kobe's was hardly malicious like they other 2 guys. It was in the heat of the battle during a rebound where Artest was pushing him in the back and he was trying to clear space. No where close to being a suspension.

I'll ask you, HT.

How many times does Kobe get away with elbows until they become malicious? Until they warrant a suspension?

Honest question. There's no doubt in my mind that Artest would have been suspended.

I wouldn't call that "throwing" an elbow. Like it or not past history does matter in a situation like that. Kobe isn't a dirty player and IMO I don't think it was a dirty elbow. I think it was in the heat of the rebound and he was saying get off my back. Artest clearly fouled him on the play and Kobe gave him a little elbow to knock him off and fouled him back. They missed the call no doubt about that, it should have been a flagrant during the game. That's playoff basketball IMO. I don't think it was done to harm him in anyway. No way can you suspend him for that. What other time did he throw an elbow? That one game against the Spurs when he hit Manu?

Man, Kobe could straight up jack a guy in the face, and you'd find a way to defend him.

It was clearly intentional.

Clearly??

I believe it was intentional, but it wasn't as clear as you make it seem to be.

The way Alston and Fisher did it? No way, not even close, he did it on purpose obviously but it wasn't done in the fashion they did it.

It was an intentional elbow. That's an ejection every time IMO.

Kobe has been involved in multiple incidents. The one against Manu & the Spurs & there is at least one more...

You know, the one where he shoots & smacks / hits the other players in the face? I don't remember against whom.
